The registration process for the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026 has entered its final 24 hours. Aspirants seeking admission to the various B.Tech programs offered by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) must submit their applications by March 31, 2026. The online portal has been operational for several months, and the institute is now preparing to transition into the examination phase.

VITEEE is a mandatory entrance test for students aiming to secure a seat at VIT campuses located in Vellore, Chennai, AP, and Bhopal. The exam is widely recognized for its rigorous assessment of candidates in subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English, and Aptitude. As the deadline approaches, the official website has seen a surge in traffic, prompting the authorities to advise candidates not to wait until the final hours to complete their submissions.

Application Steps and Mandatory Requirements

To register, candidates must visit the official VIT website and create a user profile. The application process involves several steps: filling in personal and academic details, uploading a scanned photograph and signature, and paying the non-refundable application fee. The fee for the online application is generally ₹1,350. Successful registration is confirmed only after the payment is successfully processed and an application number is generated.

Eligibility for VITEEE 2026 requires candidates to have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in their 10+2 or equivalent examination. For candidates belonging to SC/ST categories or those hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North-Eastern states, the minimum aggregate requirement is relaxed to 50%. Additionally, the applicant’s date of birth must fall on or after July 1, 2004, to be eligible for the current session.

Slot Booking and Examination Pattern

Once the registration window closes tomorrow, the institute will initiate the slot booking process. During this phase, registered candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred exam date, time, and test center. This is done through the Online Test Booking System (OTBS). Since slots are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, candidates are encouraged to log in as soon as the booking window opens in early April.

The VITEEE 2026 will be conducted as a proctored computer-based test (CBT). The question paper consists of 125 multiple-choice questions. The distribution includes 35 questions each in Physics and Chemistry, 40 in Mathematics/Biology, 10 in Aptitude, and 5 in English. The exam duration is two hours and thirty minutes. Notably, there is no negative marking in VITEEE, which allows candidates to attempt all questions.

Post-Examination Process

Following the completion of the exams in late April, VIT will release the results and the rank list on its official portal. Admission is based solely on the VITEEE rank. The institute does not follow a quota system for different states, ensuring a merit-based selection process for all campuses. Successful candidates will be called for a centralized counselling process, where they can choose their preferred campus and engineering branch based on their rank and seat availability.

Conclusion

The closure of the VITEEE 2026 registration window tomorrow marks a significant turning point in the current admission cycle. Candidates who have yet to complete their applications should prioritize finishing the process and confirming their payment status to avoid disqualification. With the examination window set to begin in less than three weeks, the transition from administrative registration to active preparation is now essential. Aspirants should utilize the time following the deadline to familiarize themselves with the CBT interface and review the core syllabus to perform well in the upcoming competitive test.
