For high school students aspiring to build a successful career in law, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, presents a prime opportunity. Ranked 28th among institutions in India by NIRF, the UPES School of Law has opened its doors for admissions to its prestigious 5-year Integrated LLB programs for the 2025 academic session. This is a crucial time for law aspirants to finalize their applications and take a step towards a rewarding legal career.
The admission process is multifaceted, offering students multiple pathways to secure a seat. The primary mode of admission is through the University of Petroleum and Energy Law School Admission Test (ULSAT) 2025. The last date to apply for ULSAT 2025 for both 3-year and 5-year LLB programs is August 31, 2025. After submitting the online application, candidates can book their test slot to appear for the ULSAT exam, which is conducted as an online proctored test.
In addition to ULSAT, UPES also accepts scores from national-level entrance exams. Students with a valid CLAT rank (up to AIR 15000) or an LSAT India percentile of 60 or above can also apply. This non-examination pathway provides a flexible option for candidates who have performed well in other national-level exams. For students with a strong academic record, UPES offers another pathway based on their Class 12 board marks. Candidates with a minimum of 75% marks in their Class 10 and 12 main five subjects (with English as a compulsory subject) may be exempted from appearing in ULSAT, with up to 20% of the total seats reserved for this merit-based category.
To be eligible for the integrated LLB programs at UPES, candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in both their Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. The university offers a diverse range of programs, including BA LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), and B.Com LLB (Hons.). These programs are designed to provide students with a blend of legal training and interdisciplinary knowledge.
While the exact fee structure varies depending on the course and specialization, the total tuition fees for the 5-year programs range from approximately ₹20.14 lakh to ₹22.25 lakh. Additionally, students should factor in hostel and other one-time fees, which can bring the total cost to around ₹30 lakh for the entire course duration. The university also offers scholarships to both male and female students based on their CLAT or CUET scores, providing financial aid for meritorious students.
This is a key moment for students to act decisively to secure a place in one of the top law colleges. The application process is entirely online, and students can submit their details on the official UPES website. Required documents include mark sheets of Class 10 and 12, a valid CLAT or LSAT scorecard (if applicable), and a scanned photograph and signature.
