Today, October 22, 2025, marks the sixth pivotal day in the Uttar Pradesh NEET UG 2025 Round 3 counselling process. For thousands of medical aspirants vying for coveted MBBS and BDS seats in the state, the time to finalize their college preferences is rapidly running out. The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), UP, has set a critical deadline, leaving candidates with just over 48 hours to submit and lock their choices before the window closes.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), UP, has set a critical deadline, leaving candidates with just over 48 hours to submit and lock their choices before the window closes.

This round is the final major opportunity for admission to state quota seats, including those freshly added or vacated after the first two rounds. All candidates whose names appeared on the revised state merit list, which was recently released, are eligible and strongly advised to exercise their options immediately.

The Critical Choice Filling & Locking Period

As per the official revised schedule announced by the DMET, the entire choice filling and locking process for UP NEET UG Round 3 is scheduled to run for eight days:

ParticularsDates
Choice Filling and Locking DatesOctober 17, 2025, to October 24, 2025
Seat Allotment Announcement DateOctober 27, 2025
Date for Downloading Allotment Letters & Admission ReportingOctober 27, 2025, to November 1, 2025

Since the process began on October 17th, today is Day 6, making the final deadline of October 24, 2025, an imminent date that cannot be missed. Candidates must log in to the official UP NEET website, upneet.gov.in, to participate.

Mandatory Steps for All Eligible Aspirants

It is crucial for all participating aspirants to understand two key requirements for this Mop-Up/Round 3:

  1. Fresh Choices are Mandatory: Even if a candidate participated in Round 1 or Round 2, they must submit a fresh list of choices for this round. The system does not carry forward previous selections. Failure to fill and lock new choices will result in non-consideration for the Round 3 allotment.
  2. Locking is Essential: Candidates must make sure they click the 'Lock Choice' button before the deadline on October 24, 2025. Choices that are filled but not explicitly locked will be automatically considered based on the submission at the time of the deadline, but manual locking is the best practice to ensure your preferences are registered accurately.

Aspirants are urged to perform their college research meticulously, taking into account the revised vacancy list (if released) and ensuring their preferences align with their NEET UG rank and the required security deposit payment.

Important Financial and Penal Consequences

Aspirants should also be mindful of the financial implications and penalties associated with this round. Depending on their registration, candidates paid a security fee of either ₹30,000 (for government colleges only) or up to ₹2,00,000 (for government and private medical colleges combined).

A major regulation to keep in mind is the penalty for candidates who are allotted a seat in Round 3 but fail to report to the college within the stipulated time (October 27 to November 1, 2025). Such non-reporting will lead to the forfeiture of the entire security deposit and may result in the aspirant being debarred from the subsequent stray vacancy round. This is why careful choice filling is paramount—only list the colleges you are absolutely prepared to join.

The allotment results will be published on October 27, 2025, and successful candidates will have a window of only five days to download their allotment letters and complete the physical reporting process at the respective institutions.

Aspirants are advised to double-check their choices and lock them well before the final closing time on Thursday to avoid last-minute technical issues. For regular updates follow Only Education News, especially concerning the upcoming seat allotment result.
