Following the declaration of NEET UG 2025 results, medical and dental aspirants in Uttar Pradesh are now keenly awaiting the commencement of the UP NEET UG Counselling 2025. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME UP) is the nodal authority responsible for conducting the counselling process for admission to 85% of state quota seats in government medical/dental colleges and 100% of seats in private medical/dental colleges across Uttar Pradesh. While an official notification detailing the exact dates has not yet been released, the registration process is highly anticipated to begin soon.

The UP NEET UG counselling is conducted in multiple rounds, typically including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and sometimes an institutional/stray vacancy round. This structured approach aims to efficiently allocate seats based on NEET UG 2025 ranks and candidates' preferences. Given the significant number of medical and dental colleges in Uttar Pradesh, the counselling process attracts a large pool of MBBS and BDS aspirants.

Understanding the UP NEET UG Counselling Process:

The counselling process generally involves the following key stages:

  • Online Registration: Candidates will need to register on the official website of DGME UP (dgme.up.gov.in or its dedicated counselling portal). This involves filling out personal and academic details, uploading necessary documents, and paying a registration fee.
  • Security Deposit: A refundable security deposit is usually required for participation in the counselling. This fee varies for government and private college seats.
  • Merit List Publication: Based on the NEET UG 2025 ranks of registered candidates, a state merit list will be published.
  • Online Choice Filling and Locking: Eligible candidates will then fill their choices of colleges and courses in order of preference. Strategic choice filling, considering previous year's cutoffs and college availability, is crucial. These choices must be locked by the specified deadline.
  • Seat Allotment: Based on the NEET UG rank, choices filled, and reservation criteria, seats will be provisionally allotted.
  • Reporting to Allotted College: Candidates who are allotted a seat must download their provisional allotment letter and report to the designated college within the given timeframe for document verification and admission formalities. They will have options like 'Freezing' their seat or 'Floating' for an upgrade in subsequent rounds.

Eligibility and Documents Required:

To be eligible for UP NEET UG Counselling 2025, candidates must meet the following general criteria:

Qualify NEET UG 2025 with the prescribed cutoff marks.

Be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh for the state quota seats, or meet other criteria for All India Quota candidates for private colleges.

Fulfill the minimum age criteria.

Aspirants should start preparing the following essential documents that will be required during the registration and verification process:

  1. NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard
  2. Class 10th and 12th Mark Sheets and Passing Certificates
  3. Domicile Certificate of Uttar Pradesh (if applicable)
  4. Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS, if applicable)
  5. Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc.)
  6. Passport-sized Photographs
  7. Provisional Allotment Letter (after seat allotment)
  8. Proof of Payment of Registration Fee and Security Deposit

MBBS and BDS aspirants in Uttar Pradesh are strongly advised to regularly visit the official website of DGME UP and any dedicated counselling portals for the earliest announcements regarding the UP NEET UG Counselling 2025 schedule. Preparedness with documents and a clear understanding of the process will be vital for securing a seat in their preferred Higher Education institution.
