The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (UPDGME), Uttar Pradesh, is prepared to conclude the choice filling and locking phase for the third Cycle of state Allotment tomorrow. As of today, January 8, thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants are finalizing their preferences on the official portal to secure a Position in MD, MS, and DNB programs across the state's medical institutions. This Phase is often considered the final major opportunity for candidates to obtain a Seat before the stray vacancy rounds begin.

Final 24-Hour Window for Choice Locking in Uttar Pradesh

The choice filling window, which opened on January 6, has entered its penultimate day. Candidates listed in the state merit list released on January 5 are currently navigating the portal to rank their preferred colleges and specialties.

  • Strict Deadline: The window for both choice filling and mandatory choice locking will officially close tomorrow, January 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
  • Mandatory Action: Authorities have reiterated that choices must be locked by the candidate to be considered for the final Allotment. Unlocked choices may result in the candidate being excluded from the current Cycle.
  • Virtual Vacancies: This Phase includes "Seat Against Cancellation" (SAC) options. These are virtual vacancies that arise if a candidate already holding a Seat is upgraded to a higher preference during the processing stage.

Gujarat NEET PG 2025: Round 3 Counselling Also Closing

While the spotlight remains on Uttar Pradesh, the Gujarat NEET PG 2025 Round 3 window is also nearing its conclusion. The Admission Committee for Professional Post-Graduate Medical Education Courses (ACPPGMEC) in Gujarat is expected to wrap up its choice-filling activities by tomorrow, matching the high-intensity timeline seen in the UP Cycle.

  • State Quota Focus: Both states are working to fill remaining state-quota seats following the conclusion of the All India Quota (AIQ) rounds.
  • Document Verification: In Gujarat, only those who completed their physical document verification by January 5 are eligible to move forward in this Phase.
  • Merit Priority: Allotments in both states will be strictly based on the NEET PG 2025 merit ranks and the specific preferences locked by the users.

The results of this Allotment will ultimately dictate the final admissions into Uttar Pradesh’s medical workforce for the 2025-26 session.
