Uttar Pradesh's Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has commenced the crucial NEET UG 2025 Stray Vacancy Round for MBBS and BDS admissions. This is the final opportunity for eligible aspirants to secure any remaining state quota seats in government and private colleges. Online registration and security fee payment conclude on November 14, 2025, with the merit list also releasing the same day. Choice filling is open until November 17. Candidates must adhere strictly to the eligibility rules to avoid disqualification.

The final opportunity for aspiring doctors to secure a coveted MBBS or BDS seat in Uttar Pradesh has arrived. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), UP, has officially announced the schedule and commenced the process for the NEET UG 2025 Stray Vacancy Round. This round is the concluding phase of the State Quota Counselling, designed to fill up the residual seats in Government and Private Medical and Dental colleges across Uttar Pradesh that remained vacant after the previous Mop-Up rounds.

For thousands of candidates who narrowly missed an allotment in the earlier rounds, this is the last chance to avoid losing an academic year. The process is rapid and requires strict adherence to the given deadlines. Aspirants must complete all necessary steps—registration, fee payment, and choice filling—by the specified cut-off times to be considered for a seat.

  • Official Website: All proceedings, including registration and choice filling, must be done through the official UP NEET Counselling portal: upneet.gov.in.
  • Final Opportunity: This round is the absolute last chance for admission into the MBBS/BDS courses in UP for the 2025-26 academic session.
  • Total Seats: While the exact number of vacant seats in both government and private colleges is dynamic, the stray vacancy round typically addresses several hundred critical seats.

A.  UP NEET UG Stray Vacancy Round: Crucial Timeline

The Stray Vacancy Round operates on a compressed and stringent timeline. Candidates who have qualified for NEET UG 2025 and meet the specific eligibility criteria for this round must ensure they do not miss any of these critical dates. The entire process, from registration to the final allotment result, is wrapped up within a matter of days.

  • Online Registration and Document Upload: Started on November 11, 2025, and concludes sharply on November 14, 2025 (11:00 AM).
  • Registration and Security Money Deposit: The payment window for both the non-refundable registration fee and the refundable security deposit also closes on November 14, 2025 (2:00 PM).
  • Declaration of Merit List: The final merit list of eligible candidates who have successfully registered and paid the fees will be declared on November 14, 2025.
  • Online Choice Filling and Locking: This crucial step begins immediately after the merit list release on November 14 (5:00 PM) and will conclude on November 17, 2025 (11:00 AM). Strategic choice filling is vital.
  • Allotment Result Declaration: The final seat allotment result for the Stray Vacancy Round will be published on November 17, 2025.
  • Admission and Reporting: Successful candidates must download their allotment letters and complete the physical admission formalities at their allotted college between November 18 and November 20, 2025.

B.  Mandatory Eligibility and Fee Structure for the Final Round

The eligibility rules for the Stray Vacancy Round are stringent, primarily aimed at candidates who have not yet secured a seat in any previous counselling round (AIQ or State). Furthermore, applicants must understand the financial commitment required, particularly the mandatory security fee deposit.

  • Eligibility Check:
    • Only candidates who have not been allotted any seat in any round of UP NEET UG 2025 counselling are eligible.
    • Candidates who were admitted, or did not report after allotment, or resigned in the previous three rounds of UP NEET UG 2025 counselling are NOT eligible.
    • Candidates already admitted through the All India Quota (AIQ) or any other State Counselling are also not eligible.
  • Registration Fee: A mandatory, non-refundable registration fee of ₹2,000 must be paid by all participants.
  • Security Money Deposit (Refundable): Candidates must deposit the required refundable security money based on the category of colleges they wish to be considered for. This must be paid online:
    • For Government Medical/Dental Colleges: ₹30,000.
    • For Private Medical Colleges: ₹2,00,000 (₹2 Lakhs).
    • For Private Dental Colleges: ₹1,00,000 (₹1 Lakh).
    • Note: Candidates applying for both Government and Private seats must deposit the higher amount of ₹2,00,000.

C.  Strategy and Focus: Maximising Your Last Opportunity

Since this is the final, centralised round, candidates must approach the choice filling with extreme caution and a clear strategy. Given the limited time and the finality of the allotment, errors can be costly.

  • Prioritise Choices: Aspirants must be realistic about their NEET UG merit rank and choose colleges and courses (MBBS/BDS) in order of genuine preference. Since this is the final round, there will be no option to resign or upgrade, meaning the allotted seat will be final.
  • Security Fee Impact: The security money deposit indicates the colleges a candidate is eligible for. Aspirants interested in private medical colleges must ensure they deposit the higher ₹2 Lakh security amount.
  • Official Seat Matrix: Before filling choices, candidates should review the official Stray Vacancy Seat Matrix released by the DGME, UP, to accurately understand the number of vacant seats per college, quota, and category.
  • Document Readiness: All shortlisted candidates will need to report physically with their original documents between November 18 and 20. Essential documents include the NEET UG Admit Card, Score Card, Allotment Letter, Domicile Certificate, Caste/EWS Certificate, and High School/Intermediate Marksheets.

Conclusion

The commencement of the UP NEET UG 2025 Stray Vacancy Round represents the culmination of the counselling process. For candidates yet to secure an MBBS or BDS seat, this is a moment of intense focus. With registration ending on November 14 and the final allotment on November 17, aspirants must act swiftly to register, deposit the necessary security fee, and strategically fill their choices on upneet.gov.in. Missing these final deadlines means forfeiting the chance for admission in the 2025-26 academic year. Good luck to all candidates taking this decisive last step.
