As of today, February 24, 2026, the Registration process for the COMEDK UGET 2026 is moving forward at a steady pace. Since the window opened earlier this month, thousands of engineering aspirants from across the country have already submitted their forms. The Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has confirmed that the Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) will be conducted on May 9, 2026. This national-level exam is a vital gateway for students who want to study in over 150 private engineering colleges in Karnataka. With the official closing date for the portal being March 16, candidates have just about three weeks left to finalize their details.

The authorities have noted that students are showing a high interest in this year's computer-based test, especially with the introduction of 181 exam centers nationwide. Because the Examination is held once a year, the pressure is high on students to ensure their data is accurate. The COMEDK UGET 2026 portal is seeing high traffic during evening hours, prompting officials to remind students that test cities are allotted on a "first-come, first-served" basis. This means those who wait until the last minute might not get an exam center in their home city and may have to travel long distances.

1. Simple Steps to Complete Your Registration

Applying for a national-level Examination can feel difficult, but the board has simplified the process into a few clear stages.

  • Initial Sign-up: Visit the Official COMEDK Website and click on the registration link to create your user ID and password.
  • Filling the Form: Log in to enter your personal details, academic history, and contact information exactly as they appear on your school certificates.
  • Document Upload: You must upload a clear photo, your signature, and a guardian's signature. All files must be in JPG/JPEG format and follow the size rules.
  • Choosing Centers: Pick your preferred city from the list of 181 Exam Centers. Remember that your choice depends on the availability of seats at the time of submission.
  • Fee Payment: The fee for the engineering stream is ₹1,950 plus GST. Once you pay this through the Payment Gateway, you cannot change most details.

2. Eligibility Criteria for Every Student

Before you start your Registration, you must make sure you are allowed to take the test based on these basic rules.

  • Academic Background: You must have passed your 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • Optional Subjects: Besides Physics and Math, you must have studied Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics.
  • Minimum Marks: General category candidates need at least 45% total marks in these subjects. For SC, ST, and OBC students of Karnataka, the minimum is 40%.
  • No Age Limit: One of the best things about the COMEDK UGET 2026 is that there is no maximum age limit for applying to engineering courses.
  • Single Board Rule: All your science subjects must be passed from the same board. For more details, check the Official Information Brochure.

3. Understanding the Exam Pattern and Prep

To do well in the Examination, it helps to know how the paper is designed and how you will be marked.

  • Subject Split: The paper has 180 questions in total—60 questions each for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Marking Scheme: You get 1 mark for every correct answer. There is no negative marking, so you should try to answer every question.
  • Duration: You will have exactly 3 hours (180 minutes) to finish the test on the computer.
  • Mock Tests: To practice, the board has already made the Official Mock Test Link live on their homepage.
  • Result Date: After the May 9 exam, the scores are expected to be released on May 26, 2026.

Conclusion

The COMEDK UGET 2026 is a fair and transparent way for a Student to enter some of the best technical institutes in India. While the Registration process is open for another month, completing it early ensures peace of mind and your preferred test location. Every Student should take advantage of the mock tests provided on the official site to get used to the computer-based format. As the May 9 date approaches, focus on your speed and accuracy in solving math and science problems. By following the official guidelines and keeping your login credentials safe, you can ensure a smooth path toward your engineering career in Karnataka.
