The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has officially confirmed that the results for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026 will be declared on March 6, 2026. This announcement is the most awaited news for thousands of students who appeared for the national-level entrance exam on January 18. Students can access their performance reports through the official UCEED portal using their registered email ID and password.

According to the official schedule, the B.Des admission process enters its most critical phase once the results are out. While the results will be visible on March 6, the actual UCEED 2026 scorecard will be available for download starting from March 10, 2026. Candidates are advised to download and save their scorecards immediately, as the link will be disabled after July 31, 2026. The scorecard is a mandatory document for the subsequent counselling rounds.

Key Dates for Result and Admission

The evaluation for UCEED involves two parts: Part A, which was a computer-based test, and Part B, which was a manual drawing test. Only candidates who clear the Part A cut-off, which was released on February 5, will have their Part B papers evaluated. The final All India Rank (AIR) will be calculated by combining scores from both sections.

The Seat Allotment Process

Once the results are declared, qualified candidates must participate in the joint seat allocation process. This is separate from the entrance exam registration. Students must fill out a common application form for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The portal for this application will remain open from March 14 to April 10, 2026.

There will be a total of five rounds of counselling and seat allotment. The first round of seat allotment is expected to be released on April 21, 2026. During this time, students will have the option to "Freeze" their seat if they are happy with the college or "Float" if they wish to wait for a better option in the next round.

Round NumberAllotment Date (Tentative)
Round 1April 21, 2026
Round 2May 19, 2026
Round 3June 10, 2026
Round 4June 24, 2026
Round 5July 3, 2026

Conclusion

As the countdown to March 6 begins, candidates should double-check their login credentials on the Candidate Portal. It is important to remember that a high All India Rank is necessary to secure a seat in the premier IITs, as the competition is extremely tough this year. If two students get the same total marks, IIT Bombay will use a tie-break policy, giving a better rank to the student who scored higher in Part B (the drawing section). Stay prepared with your digital documents for the upcoming counselling sessions starting next month.
