Following the recent conclusion of the entrance exam, the design community is abuzz with the UCEED 2026 Cutoff live updates. IIT Bombay, the organizing body, is expected to release the mean and standard deviation scores soon, which will determine the Part A qualifying marks. This year’s paper was reported to be "moderately difficult," with a particular emphasis on visualization and spatial ability, leading experts to predict a slight shift in the cutoff brackets compared to the previous cycle. To stay informed about the rank-wise seat allotment and the start of the B.Des counseling process, follow Only Education News.

Understanding the UCEED Cutoff Mechanism

The UCEED cutoff is divided into two distinct categories: the Qualifying Cutoff (to get Part B evaluated) and the Admission Cutoff (the opening and closing ranks for seat allotment).

Category	Expected Qualifying Cutoff (Part A)	Significance
General/Open	100 - 105	Mandatory to have Part B evaluated
OBC-NCL/EWS	90 - 95	90% of the Open category cutoff
SC/ST/PwD	50 - 55	50% of the Open category cutoff

Expected Opening & Closing Ranks for Top IITs

Securing a seat at an IIT for Design requires a high All India Rank (AIR). Based on early candidate feedback and the difficulty level of the 2026 paper, here are the projected closing ranks for the General category:

IIT Bombay: Rank 1 - 55
IIT Delhi: Rank 15 - 110
IIT Guwahati: Rank 60 - 160
IIT Hyderabad: Rank 40 - 155
IIT Roorkee: Rank 80 - 190

Factors Influencing the 2026 Cutoff

Several variables are currently impacting the live updates for the 2026 cutoff:

Difficulty Level: Part A’s NAT (Numerical Answer Type) section was particularly challenging this year, which might lower the average score.
Number of Applicants: A 15% increase in the number of design aspirants compared to last year has intensified the competition.
Seat Matrix: The addition of a few seats in newer IIT B.Des programs has provided a minor buffer for middle-rank holders.

What Should Aspirants Do Now?

While waiting for the final result and the Rank List, candidates should begin preparing for the B.Des Common Counseling process. It is also a critical time to explore "Result Sharing Institutes"—private universities like CEPT, RV University, and Srishti Manipal that accept UCEED scores for their own admissions.
