As of February 7, 2026, candidates of the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) are looking forward to the March 6 result declaration. Following the release of Part-A cut-offs on February 5, IIT Bombay has progressed to the combined merit list preparation. This update covers the tie-breaking policies, the validity of the 2026 scorecard, and the upcoming B.Des joint seat allocation process. Qualified aspirants can expect to download their official scorecards starting March 10 to begin their journey toward India's premier design institutes. The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has officially entered the final month of the evaluation cycle for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2026. Following the high-stakes examination held on January 18, 2026, thousands of design aspirants across the country are now focusing on the upcoming result date. According to the official UCEED 2026 schedule, the results will be formally declared on March 6, 2026, determining the eligibility for the prestigious Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs.

Transition from Cut-offs to Final Rankings

The announcement of the Part-A cut-off marks on February 5 marked a significant milestone for candidates. This qualifying threshold ensures that only those with a baseline level of visualization and logical reasoning proceed to the final ranking. Unlike the preliminary stages, the UCEED 2026 result will represent a composite score, integrating the objective performance of Part-A with the creative assessment of Part-B.

  • Merit List Composition: The All India Rank (AIR) is calculated based on the total marks out of 300. Only candidates who clear the Part-A cut-off will find their names in the merit list.
  • Tie-Breaking Protocol: In instances where total marks are identical, IIT Bombay prioritizes higher marks in Part-B. If a tie persists, marks from Section 2 of Part-A (MSQ) are considered.
  • Result Access: Candidates must use their registered email ID and password on the UCEED candidate portal to view their qualifying status.

Preparing for the B.Des Seat Allocation

Once the results are live, the focus will shift toward the B.Des joint seat allocation process. Successful candidates from the 2026 batch will be eligible to apply to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The application window for these admissions is slated to open on March 14, 2026, and will remain active until April 10.

It is important to note that the UCEED 2026 result is valid for only one academic year. Candidates are advised to download their digital scorecards between March 10 and July 31, 2026, as physical copies will not be dispatched. This scorecard serves as the primary document for the five rounds of seat allotment scheduled to begin in late April.

Looking Ahead to Counselling

The B.Des joint seat allocation process is managed entirely online. Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to pay a seat acceptance fee of ₹60,000 (for General/OBC-NCL) or ₹15,000 (for SC/ST/PwD) to secure their provisional allotment. The IIT Bombay admissions portal will guide students through the document verification phase, ensuring a seamless transition into the 2026-27 academic session.

Conclusion

As the February 7 dateline passes, the countdown to the UCEED 2026 result declaration on March 6 remains the top priority for design students. With the Part-A cut-offs already established, the final ranking will soon reveal the next cohort of designers for the IIT system. Aspirants should utilize this time to research the specific specializations offered across the seven participating institutes before the B.Des joint seat allocation begins in mid-March.
