TNEA Rank List 2026 Released at tneaonline.org; Objection Window Open Till July 6, Counselling Starts July 13
The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu, has officially released the TNEA Rank List 2026 for admission to undergraduate engineering programs across the state. Candidates who registered for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 can now check their merit position by logging in to the official portal, tneaonline.org, using their registered email ID and password.
The rank list has been prepared based on candidates' normalised Class 12 marks, as TNEA does not conduct an entrance examination. Candidates who find any discrepancy in the provisional merit list can submit their grievances or objections until July 6, 2026.
With the publication of the merit list, the admission process now moves to the counselling stage. Special category counselling will begin on July 13, followed by online counselling for other eligible candidates according to the official schedule.

Merit List Prepared Through Normalisation
Unlike many engineering admission processes, TNEA admissions are based entirely on normalized Class 12 marks. The cut-off is calculated out of 200 marks, with weightage assigned as follows:
| Subject | Weightage |
| Mathematics | 100 Marks |
| Physics | 50 Marks |
| Chemistry | 50 Marks |
| Total | 200 Marks |
For vocational stream candidates, marks are converted to a 200-point scale using the prescribed normalization formula before preparing the rank list.
Key Highlights
This year, over 2.36 lakh candidates have been included in the TNEA rank list, while 53 students secured a perfect cut-off score of 200/200, reflecting intense competition for admission to top engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. The state topper in the general academic stream is Aksitha S from Dharmapuri, who secured Rank 1 with a perfect score.
What Candidates Should Do Next
Candidates are advised to carefully verify their rank details and immediately report any discrepancies before the grievance deadline. Those participating in counselling should keep all required documents ready, including Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, transfer certificate, community certificate (if applicable), and other supporting documents.
Experts also recommend researching previous years' opening and closing ranks before exercising web options during counselling. Since seat allotment depends on merit, category, reservation, and candidate preferences, filling realistic college and branch choices can significantly improve admission chances.
With the rank list now available, engineering aspirants across Tamil Nadu can begin preparing for the counselling process, which will determine admissions to hundreds of engineering colleges affiliated with the TNEA system for the 2026–27 academic session.
