MBA and MCA aspirants in Tamil Nadu are facing a wait as the TANCET 2026 registration process has been delayed due to administrative issues at Anna University.

As of today, February 24, thousands of students looking to join MBA and MCA courses in Tamil Nadu are still waiting for the Registration Announcement. Usually, by this time in February, the application process for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is already halfway through. However, this year, the official portal has not yet opened for new sign-ups. This Administrative Delay is being linked to ongoing protests and staff issues at Anna University, which is the body responsible for organizing this state-level exam.

Students are feeling anxious because the TANCET 2026 exam is a mandatory requirement for getting into more than 250 colleges across the state. While earlier reports suggested the exam might happen in late March, the current silence from the university suggests a possible shift in the entire schedule. According to the Official TANCET Website, the page still reflects older data, and a fresh notification is expected only after the internal university matters are resolved.

1. Reasons Behind the Current Schedule Delay

The delay in the Registration Announcement has caused a lot of confusion among students who were preparing for a March exam.

  • Protests at University: Reports indicate that administrative work at Anna University has slowed down due to protests by temporary assistant professors regarding their job status.
  • Staff Vacancies: Changes in the registrar's office and other high-level positions have made it difficult to finalize the exam dates for TANCET 2026.
  • Proposal for Postponement: There are rumors that the university has sent a proposal to the state government to move the exam to May to give students more time to apply.
  • Portal Updates: The technical team is currently working on updating the server to handle the high volume of traffic expected once the link goes live.
  • Official Statement: Aspirants should wait for a formal PDF notification on the Anna University Main Page before believing any social media dates.

2. Eligibility and Preparation for the Upcoming Exam

Despite the Administrative Delay, the basic rules for who can take the test remain the same as in previous years.

  • Academic Background: You must have a recognized bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for students in reserved categories).
  • Final Year Students: If you are in your final semester of college right now, you are eligible to apply as long as you pass your degree by the time of admission.
  • Document Readiness: Keep your 10th and 12th mark sheets, a scanned photo, and your signature ready so you can apply quickly once the link opens.
  • Syllabus Focus: Use this extra time to practice Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning, as these are the toughest sections of the paper.
  • Mock Tests: Since the exam is offline (pen and paper), practice filling OMR sheets to improve your speed and accuracy.

3. What to Expect Once Registrations Open

When the university finally releases the TANCET 2026 schedule, the process will move very quickly.

  • Application Fee: The fee is expected to be ₹1000 for general students and ₹500 for those from SC/ST/SCA categories of Tamil Nadu.
  • Short Window: Because of the late start, the university might only give 15 to 20 days for students to complete their forms.
  • Hall Tickets: Admit cards are usually released 10 days before the exam date, which will likely be held on a Saturday for MCA and MBA papers.
  • Counseling Process: After the results are out in late April or May, a centralized counseling session will be held at the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore.
  • College Options: Scores from this test will be used for admission into top colleges like PSG Tech, SSN School of Management, and University Departments of Anna University.

Conclusion

The wait for the Registration Announcement for TANCET 2026 is definitely a test of patience for many. While an Administrative Delay can be frustrating, it also provides extra days for preparation. Students are advised not to panic and to treat this extra time as a "bonus" study period. Keep checking the university's official links daily, as the notification could be released at any moment. Once the process begins, ensure that you fill in your details accurately to avoid any issues during the document verification stage later in the year.
