The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu, has officially announced a revised schedule for the Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2025 counselling, providing a much-needed extension for aspiring medical and dental students. The revision comes as a direct consequence of the updated timeline for All India Quota (AIQ) counselling by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which allows candidates to have more time to make informed decisions.

As a result of this change, the last date for Round 1 choice-filling and locking has been extended significantly. This new schedule is a crucial development for thousands of candidates who have been waiting to secure a seat in MBBS and BDS courses across government and private colleges in the state.

Revised Schedule and Key Dates for Round 1

The updated timeline provides a clear roadmap for aspirants. It is essential for all candidates to take note of these new dates to avoid missing any critical deadlines:

  • Choice-Filling and Locking: The online choice-filling and locking period, which was initially scheduled to close earlier, has now been extended until August 12, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The choices that were previously locked have been unlocked, allowing candidates to make changes based on the new schedule and any recent developments. If a candidate does not edit their choices, their previously saved options will be automatically locked on the last day.
  • Seat Allotment Processing: The processing of seat allotment, based on the choices submitted by candidates, is scheduled for August 13, 2025.
  • Round 1 Seat Allotment Result: The much-awaited provisional seat allotment result for Round 1 will be published on August 14, 2025.
  • Downloading Allotment Order: Candidates who are allotted a seat can download their provisional allotment order from August 14 to August 22, 2025, by 12:00 Noon.
  • Physical Reporting: The physical reporting to the allotted colleges for document verification and admission confirmation is scheduled to be completed by August 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM.

Candidates must pay the tuition fees and download the allotment order before physically reporting to the college. Failure to report within the stipulated deadline will lead to the forfeiture of the allotted seat.

Mandatory Documents for Verification

During the physical reporting, candidates must present the following documents in their original form, along with attested photocopies:

  • NEET UG 2025 Scorecard
  • NEET UG 2025 Admit Card
  • Class 10 and 12 Mark sheets and Pass Certificates
  • Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Provisional Allotment Order downloaded from the official website
  • Passport-size photographs

The revised schedule provides a significant relief to aspirants by allowing them more time to carefully consider their college and course preferences. This is the first of many rounds, and the DME has urged candidates to stay updated on the official website, tnmedicalselection.net, for all future announcements.
