The Supreme Court of India has provided a definitive resolution for thousands of NEET UG aspirants, clearing the path for the counselling process to continue without interruption. The apex court dismissed a series of petitions that had sought to halt the admission process, including one specifically related to alleged irregularities during the exam in Madhya Pradesh.

This decision comes as a major relief to over 22 lakh candidates and provides much-needed certainty for the ongoing admission cycles for medical and dental colleges across the country. The court emphasized that halting the entire counselling process based on individual grievances would cause widespread disruption and delay, and it declined to interfere with the established schedule.

Details of the Petitions and the Court's Ruling:

The Supreme Court's decision addresses two key legal challenges:

  • The Madhya Pradesh Glitch: A petition filed by candidates from Madhya Pradesh sought a re-examination, alleging that their performance was negatively impacted by a power outage at exam centers in Indore and Ujjain. The Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the Madhya Pradesh High Court's division bench, which had set aside an earlier order for a re-test. The court noted that a re-examination for a small group of candidates was not feasible and that the initial exam's integrity was not compromised.
  • Answer Key Errors: In a separate petition, the Supreme Court also refused to entertain a plea alleging "serious errors" in three questions of the NEET UG 2025 paper. The court advised the petitioner to approach the concerned High Court, reinforcing its stance against intervening in such matters based on individual complaints and without a strong systemic issue.

By dismissing these petitions, the Supreme Court has unequivocally affirmed that the NEET UG 2025 results and the subsequent counselling process will proceed as planned. With counselling for both the All India Quota and various state quotas already underway, aspirants are advised to stick to the official schedule and complete all necessary procedures on time.
