The application process for the SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) 2026 remains active as the university prepares for its first phase of testing. SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has confirmed that candidates seeking admission to B.Tech programs at its Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, and NCR (Modinagar) campuses have until April 16, 2026, to complete their Phase 1 registrations. The national-level entrance exam is a critical gateway for thousands of engineering aspirants across India.

For the 2026 session, SRMJEEE will continue to be conducted in a Remote Proctored Online Mode (RPOM). This format allows candidates to take the exam from the safety and convenience of their homes using a laptop or desktop with a functional webcam and stable internet connection. The Phase 1 examination is scheduled to take place over three days, from April 20 to April 22, 2026, with multiple slots available each day to accommodate the large volume of applicants.

SRMJEEE 2026 Phase-wise Schedule

SRMIST typically conducts the entrance exam in three distinct phases, allowing students multiple opportunities to secure a seat or improve their ranks. While Phase 1 is currently the primary focus, the registration for Phase 2 and Phase 3 will continue into the summer months. It is important to note that a candidate can appear in all three phases, but a separate application fee is required for each attempt.

Examination PhaseRegistration DeadlineExam Dates (2026)
Phase 1April 16, 2026April 20, 21, and 22
Phase 2June 8, 2026June 15, 16, and 17
Phase 3July 2, 2026July 6 and 7

Application Procedure and Slot Booking

The application fee for SRMJEEE 2026 is ₹1,400. If a candidate wishes to appear in more than one phase, they must pay an additional ₹600 for each subsequent phase. The registration is a completely paperless process handled through the "SRM Admissions" portal. After the registration window for Phase 1 closes on April 16, the university will initiate the Online Slot Booking process.

During the slot booking window (expected between April 17 and April 19), candidates must select their preferred exam date and time slot. The hall ticket is generated immediately after the slot is confirmed. Candidates are also mandatory required to participate in a Mock Test session provided by the university a few days before the actual exam to test their system compatibility and familiarize themselves with the remote proctoring environment.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus Highlights

The SRMJEEE 2026 follows a standardized pattern consisting of 125 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The marking scheme is candidate-friendly, offering +1 mark for every correct answer with no negative marking for incorrect or unattempted questions.

  • Physics: 35 Questions
  • Chemistry: 35 Questions
  • Mathematics/Biology: 40 Questions
  • English: 5 Questions
  • Aptitude: 10 Questions

The syllabus is largely based on the Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT curriculum. For 2026, topics such as Current Electricity and Electromagnetic Induction in Physics, and Calculus and Probability in Mathematics, are expected to carry significant weightage. Candidates opting for Biotechnology or Biomedical Engineering programs can choose to answer the Biology section instead of Mathematics.

Conclusion

The ongoing SRMJEEE 2026 application process provides a flexible pathway for engineering students to enter one of India's top-ranked private universities. With the Phase 1 deadline of April 16 approaching, candidates should finalize their submissions to ensure they get their preferred testing slots for the April 20-22 window. The remote proctored format places a high premium on technical readiness, making the upcoming mock tests as vital as the actual subject preparation. As SRMIST prepares to welcome the 2026-27 batch, securing a high rank in the initial phase remains the most effective way to claim a seat in popular branches like Computer Science and Electronics.
