Registered candidates for the SMEAT 2025 exam must familiarize themselves with its two-part structure, detailed syllabus, and the final stages of the admission process. Find out what to expect in this crucial online test.

For candidates who have registered for the Srishti Manipal Entrance and Aptitude Test (SMEAT) 2025, a thorough understanding of the exam pattern and syllabus is the key to success. The online test, which is a mandatory part of the admission process for both B.Des and M.Des programs, is designed to evaluate a candidate’s creative and analytical skills.

While the application windows for the various rounds of SMEAT 2025 have closed, registered aspirants should use this time to review and prepare for the upcoming stages of the selection process.

The Two-Part SMEAT Exam Structure

The SMEAT 2025 is a 3-hour online examination divided into two mandatory parts. The exam is designed to test different facets of a candidate's aptitude.

  • Test 1: General Test of Ability (90 minutes, 50 marks) This section is a general test that assesses a candidate’s fundamental skills. It includes a variety of questions to evaluate:
    • Analytical Reasoning
    • Exploration and Persistence
    • Imagination and Visualization
    • Language and Expression
    • Observation and Curiosity
  • Test 2: Test of Creative Competencies (90 minutes, 50 marks) This is a theme- or context-based test that is sent to the registered applicants beforehand. Candidates are required to work on the given theme, showcasing their creative thinking, knowledge, and problem-solving skills through a studio-based activity.

It is important to note that both parts of the test are mandatory for all applicants. The exam has no negative marking, which encourages candidates to attempt all questions without fear of penalty.

Beyond the Exam: The Full Admission Process

SMEAT is not the only criterion for admission to Srishti Manipal. The entrance exam is just the first step in a holistic selection process. Candidates who perform well in the SMEAT are then invited for further rounds, which include:

  • Portfolio Review: Candidates must present a portfolio of their creative work. This is a crucial opportunity to demonstrate their range of skills and personal style.
  • Personal Interview & Counselling: This round is conversational, allowing faculty members to assess the candidate's motivation, communication skills, and suitability for the institute's unique pedagogical approach.

For students who have already appeared for national-level exams, the institute provides an alternative path. Candidates with a UCEED rank higher than 600 or a SAT score above 1100 can be exempted from Test 1 of the SMEAT exam, provided they submit their results at the time of application.
