The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) successfully concluded the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED 2026) on January 11, 2026. The examination was held in a remote-proctored online mode, allowing design aspirants from across the country to participate from their respective locations. Following the completion of the test, the focus has now shifted to the official result declaration, which serves as the primary filter for shortlisting candidates for the subsequent rounds of the design admission process.

Post-Examination Evaluation and Scorecard Details

The SEED 2026 was a 60-minute comprehensive assessment featuring 60 questions that tested the creative aptitude, visualization skills, and general awareness of the candidates. As the evaluation phase begins, the institute has maintained a transparent schedule for the release of the performance reports.

• Result Declaration Date: According to the official schedule released by SID, the result for the undergraduate (B.Des) program will be announced on January 19, 2026.
• Scorecard Access: Candidates will be able to download their individual scorecards by logging into the SID portal using their BDes ID and password.
• Qualifying Criteria: The entrance score is used exclusively for shortlisting. To move forward, candidates must meet the minimum cutoff percentile established by the institute, which varies based on the specialization chosen during registration.

Selection Process Roadmap and PRPI Timeline

The online entrance exam is only the first level of the four-tier selection process at Symbiosis. Candidates who qualify based on their January 11 performance must prepare for the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) rounds.

The design faculty emphasizes that while the written test measures aptitude, the PRPI stage evaluates the actual creative output and problem-solving capabilities of the student. Shortlisted candidates are required to compile a digital portfolio that showcases their best creative works to date.

Conclusion

As the academic community awaits the January 19 result, aspirants are advised to begin organizing their portfolios and practicing for the interactive sessions. The SEED 2026 scores remain valid for one year and are the sole basis for entry into SID's prestigious B.Des programs, which cover specializations from Communication Design to Fashion Communication. The institute has cautioned students to rely only on the official SID website for updates regarding the design merit list. Once the results are live, the window for slot booking will be brief, making it essential for candidates to stay vigilant during the last week of January.
