The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, has officially commenced the reporting phase for the first round of NEET SS 2025-26 counselling. This follows the release of the provisional allotment results for super-specialty courses in government medical colleges across the state. A total of 215 seats were available in this round, consisting of 106 DM (Doctorate of Medicine) and 109 MCh (Master of Chirurgical) positions.

Candidates who have been allotted a seat must download their provisional allotment order from the official medical selection portal. The reporting process is the final step to secure admission, requiring candidates to visit their respective allotted institutions in person. This session is particularly significant as it includes 50% reservation for in-service candidates in the state, in accordance with existing legal mandates for super-specialty admissions in Tamil Nadu.

Important Reporting Schedule and Deadlines

The Selection Committee has established a strict timeline for the completion of admission formalities. While the registration and choice-filling phases concluded on March 21, the focus has now shifted entirely to the physical verification of documents and the payment of tuition fees at the college level. Candidates are advised that missing the reporting deadline will result in the automatic forfeiture of their allotted seat.

The reporting window remains open for a limited period, and students must ensure they arrive at the medical colleges during official working hours. The university has also clarified that any vacancies remaining after this round will be carried forward to the second round of counselling, the schedule for which will be announced shortly.

Mandatory Documents for Physical Verification

At the time of reporting, candidates must produce their original certificates for verification by the college authorities. The institutions will also require scanned copies of these documents for their digital records. It is mandatory for candidates to carry the same photograph that was uploaded during the NEET SS 2025 application process to avoid identification issues.

The required documents include the NEET SS 2025 Scorecard and Admit Card, along with the PG Degree or Provisional Pass Certificate. Service candidates must additionally provide their TNPSC or MRB selection and posting orders. A permanent medical registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council is also a prerequisite for joining the super-specialty program.

Seat Distribution and Course Highlights

The 215 seats are spread across several premier government institutions in Tamil Nadu, with Madras Medical College holding a significant portion of the vacancies. Among the various specialties, DM Neurology reported the highest number of vacancies with 31 seats. Other courses with notable seat availability include MCh Neurosurgery and MCh Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The counselling process is conducted based on the merit list derived from the NEET SS entrance examination. For the 2025-26 session, the state has ensured that the seat matrix is transparently displayed to help candidates make informed choices. As the first round concludes, the remaining 109 MCh and 106 DM seats will determine the landscape for the subsequent admission rounds.

Conclusion

The reporting phase for Tamil Nadu NEET SS Round 1 is currently underway, marking a critical transition for super-specialty aspirants. Candidates must act quickly to download their allotment orders and complete the physical joining formalities by the March 25 deadline. With the academic session set to begin on April 10, 2026, timely reporting is essential to ensure that all 215 seats are filled by qualified medical professionals. For the latest updates on seat vacancies and the Round 2 schedule, candidates should monitor the TN Medical Selection website regularly.
