RIE CEE 2026 Counselling Underway; Check Selection List, Merit List and Documents

The Regional Institute of Education Common Entrance Examination (RIE CEE) 2026 counselling process is underway for admission to teacher education programmes offered by the Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) under the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Candidates who appeared for CEE 2026 can check their rank card, selection status, merit list, counselling notices and admission updates through the official CEE portal and the respective RIE websites. The RIE CEE 2026 examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode on July 3, 2026, while the CEE 2026 rank card was released on August 4, 2026. The official CEE portal is currently carrying admission-related information for the 2026-27 session. Candidates should note that RIE CEE counselling is conducted at the institute level. The respective RIE prepares its own selected candidate and wait lists based on the applicable admission criteria, available seats and quota requirements. Therefore, candidates should check the website of the RIE and programme for which they are seeking admission.

RIE CEE 2026 Counselling: Latest Update

The CEE 2026 rank card has already been released, and the admission process has moved to the institute-level selection and counselling stage. The official CEE FAQ states that each RIE prepares its Selected Candidates List and Wait List. Candidates included in these lists are subsequently called for counselling and document verification according to the instructions issued by the concerned institute. For this reason, there may not be a single common RIE CEE 2026 selection list covering all Regional Institutes of Education.

Candidates should check the latest admission notices of their respective RIE for:

• Selected candidate list
• Wait list
• Counselling date
• Reporting instructions
• Document-verification requirements
• Fee-payment deadline
• Further admission rounds, if applicable

RIE CEE 2026 Selection List

The RIE CEE 2026 selection list is prepared by the respective Regional Institute of Education for its programmes.

According to the official CEE admission information, the selection process takes into account the applicable admission criteria, including:

• CEE rank
• Qualifying examination performance
• Available seats
• Candidate category
• State/UT quota
• Programme-specific eligibility

Candidates whose names appear on a selected list should carefully read the accompanying counselling instructions. Being included in a selected or provisional selected list does not by itself complete the admission process. Candidates must complete document verification and other admission formalities within the deadline prescribed by the concerned RIE.

RIE CEE 2026 Merit List and Rank

The RIE CEE admission process uses the candidate's CEE performance and qualifying examination marks for rank generation. As per the official CEE 2026 admission information, CEE performance carries 60% weightage and qualifying examination marks carry 40% weightage for generating the rank, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements. Candidates should therefore check their CEE 2026 rank card before looking for the institute-specific selection or merit list. The rank card is important because the respective RIEs use the prescribed ranking and admission criteria while preparing their selected and waitlisted candidates.

RIE CEE 2026 Domicile Requirements

Domicile and state/UT eligibility can be important for RIE admissions because certain programmes have state or UT-specific admission provisions.

The CEE 2026 admission information specifies that candidates may be required to provide proof of eligibility for the selected State/UT through documents such as:

1. Proof of passing the qualifying examination from the concerned State/UT
2. Government employment/posting certificate of a parent or legal guardian, wherever applicable
3. Domicile, nativity or residence certificate issued by the competent authority
4. The applicable State/UT requirements can differ between RIEs and programmes. Candidates should therefore check the eligibility requirements applicable to their selected institute and course.

The counselling process generally involves the following stages:

1. CEE Rank

Eligible candidates receive their CEE rank based on the prescribed admission methodology.

2. Institute-Level Selection List

The respective RIE prepares its selected candidate and wait lists based on applicable admission criteria and available seats.

Candidates must produce the required original documents for verification.

5. Seat Allotment

Eligible candidates are considered for admission subject to seat availability and applicable admission rules.

RIE CEE 2026 Selection List vs Wait List

Candidates should understand the difference between the two lists.

• Selected Candidate List:
Candidates included in this list are provisionally selected for admission, subject to document verification and fulfilment of eligibility requirements.
• Wait List:
Candidates on the wait list are considered for admission if seats become available, subject to the rules of the concerned RIE.

Therefore, candidates on the wait list should continue checking official institute notices for subsequent updates.

Where to Check RIE CEE 2026 Counselling Updates?

Candidates should use the official NCERT RIE CEE portal and the respective RIE websites to check selection lists, wait lists, counselling notices, reporting instructions and document-verification requirements.
