The Department of Higher Education in Punjab (DHE Punjab) has released the UG Final Merit List 2026. This list is now available on the centralized admission portal at admission.punjab.gov.in. Round 1 of counseling and admission begins today, June 19, 2026. The merit list determines which college and course a UG candidate gets. Round 2 will follow Round 1 to fill any remaining seats. Colleges and Universities on the Punjab Portal

The portal includes 61 government colleges and 54 private state colleges. All these colleges are affiliated with three major state universities in Punjab. The partner universities involved are Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjab University Patiala. Panjab University, Chandigarh, is the third university that is part of this system. The courses available are in arts, science, commerce, BCA, and BBA.

How to Check Punjab UG Merit Status 2026?

Candidates who have registered on the portal can check their merit status online. The merit list shows which college and course has been allotted, along with the candidate’s rank.Follow these steps to view your status.

  1. Go to the official portal at admission.punjab.gov.in/merit-list-ug.
  2. Click on the UG Final Merit List 2026 link.
  3. Enter your application number and date of birth.
  4. Submit the details to view your merit status.
  5. Download and save the merit list for future reference.

Documents Required for Punjab UG Admission 2026

Candidates must have the following documents prepared in scanned format. These are needed for verification during counseling and admission.

  1. Class 10 (Matriculation) certificate and marksheet
  2. Class 12 pass certificate and marksheet
  3. Character certificate from the last attended school
  4. Aadhaar card for identity proof
  5. Punjab residence certificate if applicable
  6. Caste certificate for SC and BC candidates
  7. Current-year income certificate for reserved category candidates. 

How to Participate in Round 1 Counselling?

Shortlisted candidates must report online and confirm their allotted seat. The portal deals with seat allotment, document checks, and fee payment in one place. Below are the steps for the full process.

  1. Log in to admission.punjab.gov.in using your credentials.
  2. Check your allotted college and course on the dashboard.
  3. Accept the seat allotment within the given window.
  4. Upload the required documents for online verification.
  5. Pay the admission fee through the portal.
  6. Download the admission slip for your records.

Registration Fee and Reserved Category Notes

Candidates need to pay a registration fee of Rs 200 on the portal. This fee covers application to all linked colleges in one window. Reserved category seats are allocated as per Punjab state quota rules. SC and BC candidates must also upload caste and current-year income certificates. Candidates from outside Punjab may have fewer seat options. Always check the prospectus of your chosen college on the portal.

What Happens After Round 1 Counselling?

Candidates who miss Round 1 can apply in Round 2. Vacant seats from Round 1 will be made available for fresh allotment. The same merit list and portal will be used again. Open counselling is the last stage of the admission process. It allows direct admission for any remaining seats. The fee deposit window also closes on the last day of open counselling.
