In a significant update for medical aspirants in Punjab, the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), the state's counselling authority, has disqualified seven candidates from the Punjab NEET UG 2025 counselling. The decision was made after it was discovered that these candidates had violated a crucial state quota rule, leading to their removal from the provisional combined merit list.

According to a notice released by the university, the disqualification of these candidates is based on a violation of Clause 18 of the Punjab Government’s notification. This rule explicitly prohibits candidates and their parents from applying for MBBS and BDS admissions under the state quota of any other state while simultaneously applying for Punjab's state quota. The university stated that five of the disqualified students had applied for the Delhi state quota, while the other two had applied in Haryana. This strict enforcement of the rule is a clear message to students to adhere to all eligibility conditions to avoid the cancellation of their candidature.

Following the disqualifications, a revised provisional combined merit list has been published, featuring a total of 3,722 candidates. This list includes aspirants eligible for admission to government, private medical and dental colleges, universities, and minority institutes in the state. For these candidates, the choice-filling window for MBBS and BDS courses is now open. Students must submit their college and course preferences by 5 PM on September 12, 2025.

The choice-filling process is a critical stage where a candidate's future is largely determined. The university will use the submitted preferences, combined with a candidate's NEET rank, reservation criteria, and seat availability, to conduct the seat allotment. Aspirants are strongly advised to fill their choices carefully and in order of priority. For more news and updates on medical admissions, follow Only Education News.
