MP DME Postpones NEET UG 2025 Mop-Up Round Counselling Indefinitely Awaiting MCC Updates
The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh, has indefinitely postponed the NEET UG 2025 State Mop-Up Round Counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions. The delay is a direct consequence of ongoing updates from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) regarding the addition of new seats at the national level. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh, has officially announced the postponement of the State Mop-Up Round Counselling for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2025. This critical phase of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) counselling, which was initially scheduled to commence on October 7, 2025, has been delayed until further notice, causing uncertainty among aspiring medical students.
The decision by the MP DME is a responsive measure to the fluid situation at the national level, specifically citing updates issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). These updates primarily concern the addition of new seats across various medical institutions nationwide. State counselling bodies typically wait for the conclusion of the All India Quota (AIQ) rounds to accurately calculate the final number of vacant seats available for state-level counselling, thereby preventing confusion and ensuring efficient seat allocation.
The Impact of the Delay
The postponement means that the publication of the Revised State Merit List, the Eligible Candidates list, and the vacancy details, which were all slated for October 7, 2025, are now stalled. Furthermore, the two-day window for choice filling and locking for the Mop-Up Round, originally planned for October 8 and 9, has also been halted.
The DME has clarified that a new schedule for the Mop-Up Round will be released in due course. This revised timeline is expected only after the national-level counselling process, likely the All India Round-3 allotment results, is officially declared and finalized by the MCC.
Registration Links Remain Active
Despite the suspension of the Mop-Up Round dates, the MP DME has taken a proactive step to ensure continuity for aspiring candidates. The resignation and registration links for the MP State NEET UG counselling remain active. This allows medical aspirants to continue the process of fresh registration or update their status online. This facility will be available until the declaration of the All India Round-3 allotment results, giving newly eligible candidates a final opportunity to enroll in the state pool.
For all registered candidates, including those who were ready for the delayed Mop-Up Round, a fresh choice filling and locking process will be mandatory once the revised schedule is published. Aspirants are strongly advised to keep checking the official website of the MP DME for the new timeline to avoid missing out on this final chance for admission into the remaining MBBS and BDS seats.
