Maharashtra NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Admission Window Continues; Candidates Must Complete Reporting by 24 Dec
Today marks a pivotal juncture for postgraduate medical aspirants in Maharashtra as the Round 2 admission and physical reporting phase enters its final four-day countdown. Following the selection list declaration by the State CET Cell, candidates are now finalizing their seats at various government and private institutions. Simultaneously, the national education landscape is active with the SLAT Test 1 taking place today and the CLAT 2026 counselling window remaining open. These concurrent schedules demand high vigilance from students across medical, law, and management streams to ensure all mandatory documentation and fee requirements are met before the winter deadlines.

The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra, has officially moved into the execution phase of the NEET PG 2025 Round 2 Counselling. Following the release of the selection list, the window for physical reporting and joining at allotted colleges is currently active. All candidates who have been allotted a seat (or upgraded) in MD, MS, or PG Diploma courses under the State Quota must complete their admission formalities by December 24, 2025, at 5:30 PM.
This period is critical for those looking to secure their spot in the current round or maintain eligibility for subsequent mop-up rounds. For regular updates on the latest seat vacancies, follow Only Education News.
Round 2 Admission Timeline
Candidates must strictly adhere to the following schedule to avoid the forfeiture of their allotted seats:
| Activity | Start Date | Final Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Joining & Document Verification | December 20, 2025 | December 24, 2025 (5:30 PM) |
| Status Retention Form Submission | December 20, 2025 | December 24, 2025 (5:30 PM) |
| Commencement of Academic Session | Ongoing | As per NMC guidelines |
The "Status Retention" Decision
Upon reporting to the college, candidates face a vital choice regarding their future in the counselling process:
- Submitting the Status Retention Form: If a candidate is satisfied with their Round 2 allotment and does not wish to participate in further rounds (Mop-up/Stray Vacancy), they must submit the retention form. This "locks" the seat.
- Not Submitting the Retention Form: If a candidate joins the college but wishes to remain eligible for an upgrade in the Mop-up round, they should not submit the Status Retention Form. However, they must still complete the joining formalities and pay the fees to hold their Round 2 seat.
Important Note: Candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 2 but fail to join by the December 24 deadline will not only lose their current allotment but may also face penalties or restricted eligibility for further rounds as per the Information Brochure.
Mandatory Documents for Physical Reporting
Candidates should arrive at their allotted medical college with the following original documents along with at least two sets of attested photocopies:
- NEET PG 2025 Admit Card & Score Card.
- Maharashtra State CET Cell Online Application Form.
- MBBS Degree Certificate & Passing Certificate.
- Internship Completion Certificate (showing completion by July 31, 2025).
- Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate (MMC/NMC).
- Domicile and Nationality Certificates.
- Category/Caste Certificate and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (if applicable).

Candidates are advised to contact their respective allotted colleges beforehand to confirm the exact amount for the Tuition Fee and other deposits to be paid via Demand Draft.
