IIT Dhanbad and IIM Mumbai Collaborate to Launch Integrated Dual-Degree Program
The IIT Dhanbad and Indian Institute of Management Mumbai started the five-year Integrated Dual-Degree Program which includes a BTech and MBA.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai are initiating a novel collaboration to start an Integrated Dual-Degree Program The purpose of this effort is to improve student employment rates through the acquisition of technological knowledge as well as management skills that meet the emerging need of various industries.
Program Details
- Duration: It takes five years to complete including the easy transfer from engineering to management education.
- Curriculum Structure: During the first two years at IIT Dhanbad, the students will offer basic and elective engineering subjects, in the final 1.5 years at IIM Mumbai the students will indulge in intensive management subjects and courses.
- Eligibility Criteria: Students in engineering discipline must have a CGPA 7.5 or higher in the second semester to be in the program. Number of participants will be limited to 15 students from each IIT.
IIT Dhanbad Director Dr. Rajeev Shekhar and IIM Mumbai Director Prof. Kavita Sharma added that the young professionals would be useful as India rises in technical and business importance.
Recruitment will commence shortly for the first batch of students where the new SP Jain organization will deliver a global education that will truly develop the student’s total personality.

- Direct Entry to MBA: Students who pursue this program must have direct entry to the Institute without writing the Common Admission Test (CAT) making it easier for students to pursue a management program.
- Enhanced Employability: Recipients of the programme will have a dual degree from IIT Dhanbad with a BTech and from IIM Mumbai with an MBA making graduates desirable by multinational companies, start up firms, and government organisations.
