IIFT Introduces 5-Year Integrated MBA in International Business; A Game-Changer for 12th-Pass Aspirants
IIFT introduces a 5-year Integrated MBA in International Business for 12th-pass students. The article details the program structure, admission process through IPMAT, and career prospects.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a premier institution known for its flagship two-year MBA in International Business, has made a significant and forward-thinking move by introducing a five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). This new program, structured as a BBA in Business Analytics and an MBA in International Business, offers a direct pathway to a Master's degree for students right after their Class 12 examinations. While the program is currently offered at the IIFT Kakinada campus, it represents a monumental shift in the institution's approach to management education, catering to a new generation of aspirants.
The Integrated Programme is a direct response to the New Education Policy 2020, aiming to provide a holistic and rigorous curriculum that integrates management education with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). It is designed to equip young professionals with strong managerial and decision-making capabilities from an early stage. The program is specifically tailored for students who have a clear ambition to pursue a career in management and wish to gain a competitive edge by earning a master's degree from a top-tier institution without having to go through a separate and highly competitive entrance exam process for their MBA later in their careers.
Program Structure: A Fusion of Analytics and Global Management
The five-year program is meticulously crafted to be a comprehensive journey from foundational undergraduate concepts to specialized postgraduate knowledge. The first three years are dedicated to the BBA in Business Analytics, where the curriculum is a blend of core management principles, humanities, and professional enrichment courses. This phase lays a strong foundation in business analytics, a skill set that is in high demand across all industries. Courses include Micro and Macro Economics, Financial Accounting, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and various subjects in Business Analytics, Visual Analytics, and Data and Database Management. This rigorous undergraduate training ensures that students develop a strong analytical and quantitative base.
Upon successful completion of the first three years, students are awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business Analytics. The next two years of the program seamlessly transition into the MBA in International Business. This final phase, which is on par with IIFT’s flagship two-year MBA program, delves deep into the complexities of international trade, global economics, foreign exchange management, and cross-cultural business dynamics. This integrated structure ensures that students build a seamless progression of knowledge, ultimately becoming specialists in international business with a strong analytical foundation.
Admissions and Eligibility: A Gateway through IPMAT
Admission to this coveted program is highly selective and is based on a rigorous multi-stage process. Unlike the traditional two-year MBA programs at IIFT which now accept CAT scores, this integrated program requires applicants to appear for the Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT), conducted by IIM Indore.
The eligibility criteria for the program are as follows:
- Academic Qualification: Candidates must have passed their 10th and 12th standard examinations with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender categories).
- Mandatory Subject: Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Business Statistics as a subject in the 12th standard is mandatory.
- Age Limit: The candidate should have been born on or after August 1, 2005.
The selection process is based on a merit list prepared using a combination of the candidate's IPMAT score, their academic profile from Class 10, and gender diversity. This holistic approach ensures that the selection is not based solely on a single entrance exam, providing a fairer chance to a diverse pool of talented students.
A Smart Investment in a Global Career
For aspiring business leaders, especially those keen on a career in international business, this program offers a significant advantage. The integrated curriculum eliminates the need to prepare for a separate MBA entrance exam, saving students a considerable amount of time and effort. The direct entry into an MBA program at a renowned institution like IIFT, combined with a strong foundation in business analytics, makes graduates highly desirable in the job market.
The program's fee structure for the first three years is ₹4,00,000 per annum. The fees for the fourth and fifth years will be the same as the prevailing MBA in International Business program fees. It is a fully residential program, providing students with an immersive academic and social experience.
The launch of the five-year Integrated MBA at IIFT is a testament to the institute's commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of management education and providing students with innovative pathways to a successful career. For students who have just completed their 12th standard, this program is not just a course; it's an investment in a specialized and future-proof career in the dynamic world of international business.
