The Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), operating under the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Puducherry, has announced a crucial extension for the ongoing Round 3 of the UG NEET based medical admission counselling. This decision directly impacts medical aspirants in the region seeking seats in various undergraduate courses.
In a recent notice, CENTAC confirmed that the deadline for completing several key processes related to Round 3 has been moved to October 13, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. This extension is primarily to harmonize the state's counselling schedule with the revised timeline issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota (AIQ) and central universities.
Key Deadlines Extended for Aspirants
The extension covers two critical actions that candidates must complete by the new deadline:
- Round 3 Registration and Course Preference Submission: The submission of willingness to participate in Round 3, along with the detailed course preferences and payment of the registration fee, must be finalized by 5:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025. This is the last opportunity for candidates to register and lock in their choices for the remaining medical seats in Puducherry colleges.
- Seat Resignation/Withdrawal: Candidates who were previously allotted and joined seats in either Round 1 or Round 2 of the counselling and now wish to resign or withdraw their admission (with forfeiture of fee) must submit their official Resignation Request Letter via their candidate login dashboard by 5:00 p.m. on October 13, 2025. This withdrawal process is essential as it makes those seats available for the subsequent rounds, ensuring maximum utilization of available vacancies.
Context of Revised National Schedule
The CENTAC extension reflects the broader national adjustment in the NEET UG 2025 counselling process. The revised MCC schedule for the All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed, and Central Universities has compressed the final stages of admissions.
- MCC Round 3 Results: The results for the AIQ Round 3 were recently published on October 11, 2025, with candidates being directed to report to their allotted seats from October 13 to October 21, 2025.
- Stray Vacancy Round: The MCC is scheduled to initiate the Online Stray Vacancy Round for AIQ seats shortly thereafter, with registration and payment running from October 24 to October 28, 2025, followed by the reporting deadline on November 7, 2025.
By extending its own deadlines, CENTAC ensures that candidates who participate in the central Round 3, and might resign their state quota seat, have the time to do so, and simultaneously, state candidates are given a full opportunity to register their final choices before the subsequent allotment process begins.
