National Institute of Design has released important instructions regarding the Master of Design (M.Des) course admission.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released some important instructions regarding the Master of Design course. The notification is about the Final Result of the 2026-27 academic session , seat allotment process, document upload, and token fee payment for shortlisted candidates. Candidates who appeared for the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains 2026 can check their final results through the official admission portal by logging in with their registered credentials.

What must candidates do?

According to the official admission portal, candidates shortlisted in the final merit list must complete several admission formalities within the prescribed deadlines. The institute has instructed candidates to carefully verify their allotted discipline, campus preference, category details, and seat allotment status before proceeding further in the admission process.

Provisional Admission offer

After the declaration of results, eligible candidates are required to pay the token amount to confirm their provisional admission offer. The payment process is completely online, and candidates must complete the transaction within the specified timeline mentioned on the portal. Failure to pay the token fee before the deadline may result in cancellation of the allotted seat, after which the seat can be offered to waitlisted candidates in subsequent rounds.

Required Documents

In addition to fee payment, candidates must upload all mandatory documents for verification. These documents generally include educational certificates, category certificates (if applicable), identity proof, passport-size photographs, and other supporting documents as mentioned in the admission handbook. The National Institute of Design has advised candidates to ensure that uploaded documents are clear, valid, and in the prescribed format to avoid rejection during verification.

Campuses all across India

The admission process for NID M.Des programmes is conducted for campuses located in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru. Seat allotment is based on candidates’ final merit rank, category, and discipline preference submitted during counselling. Candidates who are not allotted seats in the first round may still receive admission offers in later rounds depending on seat vacancies and withdrawals.

Advice to candidates

Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official NID admissions website for updates related to counselling schedules, waiting lists, and additional admission rounds. The institute has also warned applicants against relying on unofficial websites and coaching claims regarding admissions. All official updates are published only through the NID admissions portal.
