The gateway to MBA and PGDM programs at NMIMS and numerous other premier management institutes across India is set to open. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the conducting body for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam, has announced that registrations for NMAT 2025 will officially commence on August 1, 2025. This marks the beginning of a crucial period for management aspirants to secure their spot in one of the most flexible and aspirant-friendly entrance examinations.

Known for its adaptive testing format and unique scheduling options, NMAT by GMAC is accepted by over 50 leading business schools in India, including the highly sought-after Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) campuses in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, along with institutions like K J Somaiya, XIMB (for specific programs), TAPMI, and SDA Bocconi Asia Center, among others.

Key Dates and Deadlines for NMAT 2025:

Aspiring candidates should mark these important dates in their calendars:

  • Online Registration Starts: August 1, 2025
  • Online Registration Last Date: October 10, 2025
  • Exam Scheduling Window: August 1 to October 17, 2025
  • NMAT 2025 Exam Delivery Window: November 5 to December 20, 2025
  • Retake Registration Window: November 6 to December 17, 2025

It is highly recommended that candidates register and schedule their exam early to avail their preferred test date, time, and centre.

NMAT's Flexible and Aspirant-Friendly Features:

The NMAT by GMAC exam stands out for its unique features designed to provide candidates with maximum flexibility and a fair opportunity to perform their best:

  • Choice of Exam Mode: Candidates can opt to take the exam either at a designated test centre or through an online proctored mode from their home, offering convenience and accessibility.
  • Self-Scheduling: Aspirants can choose their preferred exam date and time within the extensive exam window based on their preparation levels and convenience.
  • Multiple Attempts: A significant advantage of NMAT is the provision for up to three attempts within the testing cycle (one first attempt and two retake attempts). There must be a minimum gap of 15 days between two attempts. GMAC considers the best score out of all valid attempts for admission purposes, giving candidates the chance to improve their scores.
  • Instant Score Report: Unofficial scores are displayed immediately after the completion of the exam, providing instant feedback. Official scorecards are typically released within 48 hours.
  • No Negative Marking: The exam does not have negative marking for incorrect answers, encouraging candidates to attempt all questions without fear of penalty.

Exam Pattern and Eligibility:

The NMAT exam is a 120-minute (2-hour) computer-based test consisting of 108 questions across three sections:

  • Language Skills: 36 questions (28 minutes)
  • Logical Reasoning: 36 questions (40 minutes)
  • Quantitative Skills: 36 questions (52 minutes)

Candidates are given the flexibility to choose the order in which they attempt these sections. The application fee for NMAT 2025 is INR 3000 + applicable taxes for initial registration and each retake.

To be eligible for NMAT, candidates generally need a Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 format) from a recognized university, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Final-year students are also eligible to apply.

Preparing for Success:

With the registration opening soon, aspirants should now focus on developing a robust preparation strategy. This includes understanding the unique NMAT exam pattern, utilizing official study materials, practicing sectional and full-length mock tests, and leveraging the flexibility of multiple attempts wisely.

For comprehensive details regarding eligibility, application process, and to register once the window opens, candidates must visit the official NMAT by GMAC website: mba.com/nmat.
