The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has officially announced the commencement of the registration process for the NMAT by GMAC 2025, one of the most popular management entrance exams in India. The application window is now active, providing aspiring managers with a crucial opportunity to secure their spot at some of the country’s top business schools. Candidates have a generous timeframe to apply, with the final date for registration set for October 10, 2025. The exam itself will be held over an extended testing window from November 5 to December 19, 2025.

This extended format is a defining feature of the NMAT, offering candidates unmatched flexibility. Unlike other single-day exams, NMAT allows aspirants to self-schedule their test date, time, and location within the specified window. This flexibility is further enhanced by the provision of up to three attempts in a single testing cycle—one initial attempt and two optional retakes. This feature is particularly valuable as institutes will consider the best of a candidate’s scores for their admission process, giving aspirants a significant chance to improve their performance and enhance their chances of admission. The ability to strategize their attempts and focus on their weak areas makes NMAT a favorite among students seeking to maximize their potential.

The NMAT Registration and Application Process

The registration for NMAT 2025 is a user-friendly, completely online process. Aspirants can complete their application by following these key steps:

  1. Create an Account: Candidates must first visit the official NMAT website and create an account by providing basic details such as their name, email address, and mobile number.
  2. Fill the Application Form: After logging in, aspirants are required to fill out the detailed application form with accurate personal and academic information, including their educational qualifications, work experience (if any), and other relevant details.
  3. Select College Preferences: A unique feature of the NMAT application is the ability to select up to five colleges to which the scores will be sent, free of cost. This pre-selection helps streamline the application process to the participating institutions. Candidates can add more colleges later for an additional fee.
  4. Upload Documents and Pay Fee: The final stage involves uploading a recent photograph and paying the application fee of ₹3000 plus taxes online. The fee is mandatory for the application to be considered complete.
  5. Schedule the Exam: Upon successful fee payment, candidates gain access to the exam scheduling portal where they can choose their preferred date, time, and test center.

The last date for scheduling the exam is October 14, 2025, providing a brief buffer after the registration window closes. Aspirants are advised to book their slots early to secure their preferred date and center, as slots are often allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Exam Pattern, Eligibility, and Opportunities

The NMAT exam is a two-hour computer-based test with 108 questions, divided into three sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Each section is individually timed, a unique feature that requires a focused strategy. Importantly, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which allows candidates to attempt all questions without the fear of a score deduction.

To be eligible for the NMAT 2025, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. A key aspect of the NMAT is its inclusive eligibility criteria, as there is no upper age limit for taking the exam, and fresh graduates are also eligible to apply without any mandatory work experience.

The NMAT by GMAC score is a passport to a wide range of opportunities. Over 50 top B-schools in India and abroad accept the NMAT score for their MBA/PGDM programs. This includes prestigious institutions like NMIMS Mumbai, XIMB, K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management, TAPMI, and SDA Bocconi Asia Center, among others. The broad acceptance of the NMAT score across a diverse group of colleges makes it a strategic choice for aspirants looking to diversify their application portfolio.

With the registration window now open and the exam scheduled for later this year, aspiring managers have a clear path ahead. The flexibility, multiple attempts, and wide acceptance of the NMAT by GMAC make it a compelling choice for anyone serious about pursuing a career in business management.
