It is a crucial entrance exam for admissions to MBA and PGDM programs, most notably for various campuses of SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), as well as over 60 other leading management institutes like K J Somaiya Institute of Management, XIM University, TAPMI, SDA Bocconi Asia Center, and others in India, South Africa, Nigeria, and the Philippines.

Eligibility and Application Process:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. While GMAC does not specify a minimum percentage, most participating institutes require at least 50% aggregate marks in graduation. Final year students are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree requirements before the admission deadline of their chosen institutes. There is no age limit to appear for the NMAT by GMAC exam.

The application process is entirely online via the official website, mba.com/exams/nmat. Here’s a brief overview of the steps:

  1. Create an Account: Register on the NMAT by GMAC portal with personal details.
  2. Fill Application Form: Complete the comprehensive application form, including academic history and work experience.
  3. Select Schools: Choose up to five preferred management programs/schools to send scores to (included in the registration fee); additional choices incur a separate fee.
  4. Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature.
  5. Pay Exam Fee: The NMAT 2025 registration fee is INR 3,000 + applicable taxes. Payment can be made online via credit card, debit card, or internet banking.
  6. Schedule Exam: Once the fee is paid, candidates can schedule their preferred exam date, time, and test centre (or choose the online proctored at home option).

Exam Structure and Flexibility:

The NMAT by GMAC is a computer-adaptive test comprising 108 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. It is divided into three sections: Language Skills (36 questions, 28 minutes), Quantitative Skills (36 questions, 52 minutes), and Logical Reasoning (36 questions, 40 minutes). A key advantage of NMAT is that there is no negative marking, and candidates have the flexibility to choose the order in which they attempt the sections. GMAC allows candidates up to three attempts (one main attempt and two retakes) within the defined testing window, with the best score being considered by colleges.

Aspirants are strongly encouraged to register early to secure their preferred test slots and to plan their retake strategy, if desired.
