The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has come up with the registration of the first round selection for admissions to the MBA program for the 2026-28 batch.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has come up with the registration of the first round selection for admissions to the MBA program for the 2026-28 batch. The list is out 23 April 2026, after the Group Discussion and Personal Interview Rounds, which took place on the 15th, respectively. and April 16, 2026.

A total of 72 candidates had been provisionally selected. Admission is only confirmed for people who meet the desired eligibility standards and complete the necessary pre-admission procedures. Admission to the MBA program at NIT Rourkela has been fixed for 7th May 2026 within the School of Management, NIT Rourkela. It should be noted that the electoral roll is composed of names of candidates belonging to various parties, i.e., general, OBC, EWS, SC, ST & physically challenged categories.

All determined candidates have been requested to appear separately for the admission procedure on 7th May 2026, at 10:00 am. Moreover, the waiting list is also arranged through NIT Rourkela. If any vacancies remain after the end of the primary admission round, then wait-indexed candidates may be asked to apply on May fifteenth, 2026.

The chosen candidates need to pay a fee of Rs. 164,500 through the SBI Collect online method. In the first-semester fee structure, there are several components such as admission fee, tuition fee, hostel seat rent, establishment of hall fee, caution money, and mess advance. In terms of total fees, it comes to approximately Rs. 588,500 for all four semesters. However, for the second year, the fee is Rs. 294,000.

Documents Required for Joining on May 7, 2026

The selected candidates must bring their original documents along with self-attested photocopies to the joining event on May 7, 2026. The necessary documents include the high school certificate for proof of date of birth, the pass certificate of the qualifying examination, mark sheets after HSC, the college leaving certificate, the migration certificate, the conduct certificate from the previous institution, three passport-sized color photographs, and the admission fee receipt.

Candidates who have not yet received their final results must provide a course completion certificate signed by their principal or registrar. Additionally, they need to submit a statement confirming that they will provide their qualifying marks by September 30, 2026. If this is not done, the admission will be cancelled, and the paid amount will be forfeited. 

Class-Unique Documents and Order Provisions

Candidates practicing for admission in any route primarily based on SC / ST / OBC / EWS reservations are required to submit their valid class records in line with the Government of India provisions for admission. Applicants belonging to the OBC category shall have gift certificates issued on 1 April 2026 or later. The OBC class certificate shall be provided inside the prescribed format, specifically Appendix-II, and a written challenge from Appendix-III for admission to academic publications.

SC and ST candidates shall upload a caste/class certificate in the format prescribed by the Government of India. EWS applicants will provide a valid EWS certificate at the time of admission. Physically challenged applicants having an incapacity rate of 40% or more shall provide an incapacity certificate issued with the help of a medical board under the PWD Act. In the case of a temporary disability, the evidence must be valid until 15 September 2026.

Next Steps for Students

After the crowning glory of the recording technique, 7 May 2026, selected candidates could be officially admitted to the MBA 2026-28 program offered through the School of Management, NIT Rourkela. For applicants who have not received their consequences, they must submit their very last effects and education certificates by 30 September 2026. Failure to do so may result in the candidate’s admission being withdrawn, and all fees paid may be forfeited.

At NIT Rourkela, a full-time residential machine is maintained; thus, barring exceptions, such as people living in Rourkela or living with their parents, students are expected to live in hostels.
