The entrance test is not going to happen in any other city of the country.
Candidates must visit the official website at nimhans.ac.in/academics/examinations for complete details and updates. When the candidates click on the button, they’ll be able to figure out all the details of the examination.
The admission process includes entrance examinations, interviews for PhD candidates, and merit-based selection across multiple postgraduate and doctorate programs. The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) conducts separate merit lists for each course based on the entrance exam performance.
The candidates who have applied for the examination must have completed their qualifying degree with final year or provisional results on the admission date.

NIMHANS PG/PhD Exam Format and Course Details
NIMHANS offers multiple postgraduate programs, including M.A. Clinical Psychology (RCI), M.Sc. courses, M.Phil programs, and various PhD specialisations. The entrance examination is conducted in a pen-and-paper format (written examination format) at the Bengaluru campus. Each course has a separate merit list prepared based on entrance exam performance.
NIMHANS PG/PhD Admission 2026 Selection Process
The selection is conducted entirely on merit. We can, easily, say that the exam is conducted in Merit-based selection mode. The candidates shortlisted in the doctorate examination admission process will appear for the interviews. The interviews will be on June 2-3 , 2026 .
The provisional selection lists for all the courses will be announced on June 20, 2026. Admission date starts after this on June 23, 2026.
Candidates selected in the merit list must complete document verification on their respective admission dates. Original certificates and a qualifying degree must be presented during admission. Candidates who fail to produce final year or provisional results on the admission date will not be considered for admission.
WHAT SHOULD A CANDIDATE DO NOW?
The course will start from July 1, 2026. Candidates are advised to keep themselves updated regarding the examination schedule. All the dates mentioned on the official schedule are tentative and they are subject to change.
