The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has started the registration process for the Spot Round Counselling 2026.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has started the registration process for the Spot Round Counselling 2026. The registration window is now open on the official NIFT counseling website at nift.admissions.nic.in. This round includes counseling for undergraduate (UG), UG lateral entry, and postgraduate (PG) programs. The Spot Round is for filling up any remaining seats that were not filled in the first three rounds. Only students who have a valid Common Merit Rank (CMR) from NIFT 2026 are allowed to apply. The registration process will close at midnight on July 22, 2026.

The Spot Round is set to run for a short duration of ten days. All major events take place between July 19 and July 29.

Who is Eligible for the NIFT Spot Round 2026?

The Spot Round is open to a specific group of CMR holders. These include candidates who were in the earlier rounds but didn’t get a seat, those who paid the admission fee but didn’t get a seat, those who withdrew from the earlier rounds, those who didn’t register before but have a valid CMR, those who registered before but didn’t upload the required documents, and those who are eligible for NIFT Lateral Entry Admission (NLEA) with an active CMR.

What is Covered in the NIFT Spot Round?

  1. NIFT is conducting the spot round for three different counseling tracks.
  2. Candidates need to apply on the correct portal for their desired program.
  3. The UG counselling is for those wanting to get into the Bachelor of Design or Bachelor of Fashion Technology.
  4. The UG Lateral Entry Counselling is for candidates who want to join higher UG semesters directly.
  5. The PG counseling is for those wanting to join the Master of Design or Master of Fashion Management.
  6. It also includes the Master of Fashion Technology program.
  7. Each track has its own vacancy list, which candidates should review before locking their choices.

How to Register for the NIFT Spot Round Counseling 2026?

Registration for the Spot Round is entirely online through the official counseling portal. All steps must be completed before the deadline.

  1. Go to the official portal at nift.admissions.nic.in.
  2. Log in using your NIFT 2026 CMR credentials.
  3. Pay the registration fee as mentioned in the information bulletin.
  4. Select your preferred campus and program from the available seats.
  5. Lock your choices before the July 23 deadline.
  6. Each of the three tracks (UG, UG Lateral Entry, PG) has its own portal link.
    Make sure you pick the right track for your target program.

Support Tools on the NIFT Counselling Portal

NIFT has uploaded three video tutorials on the portal. These videos explain the registration process, how to fill in your choices, and how to confirm your seat with payment. Android users can download the Pravesh Mitra mobile app for easier access to the portal. They should also install the Sandes app to receive official notifications.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Check the vacancy document for your track on the official portal.
  2. Register at nift.admissions.nic.in before the July 22 midnight deadline.
  3. Fill your choices and lock them before the July 23 midnight deadline.
  4. Check the seat allotment result on July 24 on the same portal.
  5. If you are allotted a seat, pay the admission fee by the July 27 midnight deadline.
  6. Report to the allocated NIFT campus on July 29 with all the required documents.
