NID DAT 2027 Registration: Last Date November 30, Fee Structure and Documents Required

The National Institute of Design (NID) has opened online registration for the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2027 — the entrance exam for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and the 5.5-year Integrated Master of Design (M.Des) programmes for the 2027–28 academic session. Candidates can apply at admissions.nid.edu until November 30, 2026, 11:59 PM. This article covers the fee structure, the correction window, and the category-wise document checklist candidates need before starting the form.

NID DAT 2027: Key Dates

*Reported consistently across NID admission trackers; candidates should reconfirm both dates on admissions.nid.edu closer to the exam.

NID DAT 2027 Application Fee

Candidates changing their applied category or gender after submission must pay the difference in fee; no refund is issued if the change results in a lower slab.

Application Edit/Correction Window

NID opens a short edit window from December 1, 2026, once the registration deadline closes. Candidates can update most fields in the NID DAT Application form 2027 during this period — except Programme Applied for, Name of the Candidate, Date of Birth, Registered Mobile Number, and Registered Email ID, which are locked once submitted. Category or gender changes attract the applicable additional fee.

Candidates are advised to check admissions.nid.edu directly for the exact closing date and time of this window, as it was not specified beyond the opening date at the time of writing.

Documents Required for NID DAT 2027 Registration

Before starting the form, keep scanned copies of the following ready, based on the category being applied under:

The photograph and signature must be uploaded in the exact format and size prescribed on the portal, and category certificates must meet NID's stated validity requirements — an expired or wrongly formatted certificate can hold up the application.

Eligibility Criteria (Brief)

• B.Des: Candidates who have passed, or are appearing in, the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2026–27 from a recognised board, in any stream.
• Integrated/Regular M.Des: Requires a recognised bachelor's degree (minimum 3–4 years) or a full-time diploma in Design, Architecture, or Engineering.
• Age relaxation typically applies for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD candidates.

Candidates should verify exact eligibility clauses, including age cut-offs, against NID's official Admissions Handbook before applying, as these details can vary by programme.

What Happens After Registration Closes

Once the window shuts on November 30, the short edit period opens, followed by release of the DAT Prelims admit card and the Prelims exam itself. Candidates shortlisted from Prelims move to DAT Mains, which includes a Studio Test (model-making and material handling), a Sensitivity Test/Personal Interview, and a portfolio review.

Official Website

Candidates must apply only through the official portal: admissions.nid.edu. NID does not authorise third-party portals to accept DAT applications.
