The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has made big changes to the counselling process for 2026, especially for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG). You can find all the details on the official website at mcc.nic.in. These changes were introduced by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. From now on, candidates will only need to visit a college once after they are allotted a seat. Instead of going to the college multiple times, they can now check their documents online. The MCC organizes counselling for the 15% All India Quota seats. They also handle admissions for AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, AFMC, and other central institutes. The National Testing Agency released the NEET UG 2026 results on July 16, 2026. The full counselling schedule will be available soon on the MCC portal.

Major Reforms in NEET UG Counselling 2026

This year, six big changes have been introduced. The table below gives a detailed explanation of each new rule for students.

Who Is Eligible for MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026?

Candidates who passed the NEET UG 2026 exam can apply for MCC counselling. They must meet the cut-off marks set by the National Testing Agency. Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Applicants must be 17 years old by December 31, 2026. Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals are all eligible to apply.

What Are the Rounds of NEET UG 2026 Counselling?

This year, there will be four rounds of counselling: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up, and Stray Vacancy. Candidates who have a freeze option will complete their formalities right after they are allotted a seat. Candidates with a float option can apply for better seats online in the next rounds. Their current seat will still be kept safe in the system. This means they don’t have to go to the college multiple times anymore.

How Will Online Document Verification Work?

Candidate details will be automatically filled in using the NTA records during registration.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) will first check the seat list. Then, the colleges will verify documents using the MCC portal digitally. NRI candidates can upload their documents on the portal instead of sending them by email. Officers in charge have been trained to review these documents online. Cybersecurity has been improved with the help of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Support Channels for Candidates

The MCC has set up a 24x7 toll-free helpline at 1800-102-7637. Candidates can also send their complaints to the official MCC 2026 email address. The Information Bulletin is the main source for all rules. This year, trained Document Verification Officers will manage the paperwork. College representatives have also received new training.

Action Plan for Candidates

  • Once the Information Bulletin is released, read it carefully on the MCC portal.
  • Keep your NEET UG 2026 scorecard and mark sheets ready.
  • Register on mcc.nic.in when the counselling begins.
  • Choose your preferred colleges and courses carefully during the given time.
  • Visit the college you are allotted to once after the results are announced.

If you have any questions, call the MCC helpline at 1800-102-7637.
