The much-anticipated second round of NEET UG 2025 counselling is set to begin today. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will open the registration and choice-filling window for the All India Quota (AIQ) Round 2 on its official website, mcc.nic.in. This round provides a fresh opportunity for thousands of aspiring medical and dental students who were either not allotted a seat in Round 1 or are looking to upgrade to a better college or course.

According to the official schedule released by the MCC, the registration process will run from August 21 to August 26, 2025. This is a critical period for all eligible candidates to register and fill their choices carefully. The counselling process is a complex one, and missing any deadline can lead to losing a chance at securing a seat in a dream college. Eligibility for Round 2

It's important for aspirants to understand who is eligible to participate in the second round of counselling. The following categories of candidates can take part:

  • New Registrants: Candidates who did not register for the first round of counselling can do so now.
  • No Seat Allotted in Round 1: Candidates who registered in Round 1 but were not allotted a seat are automatically eligible to participate in Round 2 and do not need to register again.
  • Upgrading Candidates: Aspirants who were allotted a seat in Round 1 and accepted it with the option to upgrade (Option-2) can participate in this round for a better seat.
  • Round 1 Exits: Candidates who did not report to their allotted college in Round 1 and forfeited their security deposit are also eligible to register again in Round 2 by paying the fees again.
  • Resigned Candidates: Candidates who joined their Round 1 allotted college but chose to resign with forfeiture can also participate in Round 2 by registering anew.

Candidates who have already joined a college in Round 1 and have not opted for an upgrade are not eligible to participate in Round 2.

Key Dates and Process

Aspirants must keep the following dates and steps in mind to ensure a smooth counselling experience.

  • Registration and Payment: August 21 to August 26, 2025.
  • Choice Filling and Locking: The window for choice filling will be open from August 22 until 11:55 PM on August 26, 2025. Choice locking will be enabled from 4:00 PM on August 26. Aspirants should carefully fill in their preferences, as these choices will determine their seat allotment. It is advisable to list a wide range of colleges and courses to maximize your chances.
  • Seat Allotment Processing: The seat allotment will be processed from August 27 to August 28, 2025.
  • Result Declaration: The Round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on August 29, 2025.
  • Reporting to Colleges: Allotted candidates must report to their respective colleges between August 30 and September 5, 2025, to complete the admission formalities and document verification.

This second round is critical as it will fill up a significant number of vacant seats. Aspiring doctors and dentists should prepare all their documents in advance to avoid any last-minute hurdles.
