NEET 2026 : NATIONAL MEDICAL COMMISSION HAS ASKED COLLEGES NOT TO PROVIDE LEAVE TO STUDENTS ON 3 MAY

As the National testing agency has informed the students that they’ll take the examination with full transparency. After last year's discrepancies, there were loads of questions about the transparency of the testing agency. Since, the transparency questions exist this year too, the National Examination cum Entrance Test ( NEET ) has asked the National Medical Commission to cover the examination with them.
On this account, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all the medical colleges to not grant any kind of leave to students on May 3. In the public Notice, the National Medical Commission has advised all the medical colleges not to provide any leave to their medical students on May 2nd and May 3rd.
They have asked the colleges to provide any leave in special circumstances if the students can provide a proper justification. The National Medical Commission has provided an argument that the direction has been taken as a preventive step to discourage any viable misuse and to support the fair conduct of NEET UG 2026.
Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi wrote to the National Medical Commission (NMC) pointing out a huge number of instances in the past where medical students were caught helping out candidates appearing for the examination. This does not help the National Testing Agency to conduct the examination with sanctity and integrity.
The National Medical Commission wants the counselling process to start on time. The Medical Commission wants the first year medical students to join the system when last year’s students go out of the loop. This helps the Medical System of India to be structured.
Also, the testing agency and medical commission don’t want the examination to be questioned in the Supreme Court of India. When legal values cross the boundaries of medicine, everything connected to medicine is going to be structured in a different way.
