The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the NEET UG 2026 (re-exam) result by July 20, 2026, though an official date has not yet been confirmed. Once released, the result will be available on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, and candidates will be able to check their scores using their application number and password.
Result to Be Released as PDF
According to the latest updates, the NEET result 2026 will be published in two parts. First, a detailed result PDF will be uploaded to the website, containing the category-wise cut off marks, the toppers list, the Top 100 All India Rank (AIR) holders, and state-wise performance data. Separately, candidates will get access to their individual NEET scorecards, which can be downloaded after logging in with their credentials on the official portal.
To check the scorecard, candidates need to visit neet.nta.nic.in, click on the scorecard link, log in with their application number and password, and download the document. The result PDF, on the other hand, can be accessed directly through the result link on the homepage.
How the Result Will Be Prepared
NTA will finalize the NEET UG 2026 result based on three key factors: the final answer key, the cut off marks for each category, and the tie-breaking rules for candidates with identical scores. The final answer key is expected to be released alongside or shortly before the result.
Marking Scheme and Bonus Marks
The NEET exam follows a marking scheme of +4 for every correct answer, -1 for every incorrect answer, and 0 for unattempted questions. Additionally, NTA has confirmed provisions for bonus marks in two scenarios — if a question is dropped, all candidates who appeared for the exam will receive +4 marks; and if a question is found to have two correct answers, candidates who selected either of the two options will be awarded +4 marks.
Tie-Breaking Rules
In case multiple candidates score the same marks, NTA will apply tie-breaking criteria in the following order: higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology), followed by higher marks in Chemistry, then Physics, and finally a lower proportion of incorrect-to-correct answers across all subjects and individual sections.
Previous Year's Cut Off for Reference
While the NEET 2026 cut off is yet to be announced, last year's (NEET 2025) qualifying scores offer a useful benchmark:
| Category | NEET 2025 Cutoff Score |
|---|---|
| UR/EWS | 144–686 |
| OBC/SC/ST | 113–143 |
| UR/EWS-PwD | 127–143 |
| OBC/SC/ST-PwD | 113–126 |
Exam Pattern
The NEET UG exam consists of three sections — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology — spread across 180 questions worth a total of 720 marks. Physics and Chemistry each carry 45 questions (180 marks), while Biology (Botany & Zoology combined) carries 90 questions worth 360 marks.
What's Next
Candidates are currently awaiting three major releases from NTA: the OMR sheet, the final answer key, and the result itself. Once the result is declared, candidates can use it to estimate their All India Rank and begin exploring counselling and admission options for MBBS and BDS courses at government and private medical colleges across the country.
Candidates are advised to keep checking the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, for authentic updates and avoid relying on unverified sources for result-related information.
