Cut Off Expected to Be Higher This Year

According to early assessments, the NEET 2026 cut off could be higher than in previous years for both General and reserved categories, given the moderate difficulty level reported for the re-exam. However, the final cut off will also depend on counselling-related factors such as candidate choices, seat availability, and category-wise reservation, not the exam result alone.

For reference, historical NEET cut off trends show the General category requiring a minimum qualifying percentile of 50, with marks typically ranging between 131 and 697, while OBC/SC/ST candidates need a 40 percentile, with marks generally falling between 107 and 130.

Result and Scorecard Expected Together

Multiple updates indicate that the NEET result PDF, cutoff marks, Top AIR list, and individual scorecards are all expected to go live simultaneously by July 20, 2026. Candidates will be able to download their scorecards using their application number, password, and security code once the link is activated.

Marking and Scoring Reminders

The NEET exam carries a maximum of 720 marks, based on +4 for every correct answer and -1 for every incorrect answer. Questions left unattempted receive zero marks, neither adding to nor deducting from the total score — so candidates are encouraged to attempt only those questions they are reasonably confident about.

What Happens Next

With the OMR sheet, final answer key, and result all pending, candidates should regularly check neet.nta.nic.in for authentic updates. Once the final answer key and result are declared, candidates can calculate their probable rank and begin preparing for the counselling process for MBBS, BDS, and other medical admissions across government and private institutions.

NTA has not issued any formal press release confirming these dates yet, so students are advised to rely only on official NTA communication and avoid unverified sources circulating on social media.
