The National Testing Agency is all set to conduct the NEET UG 2026 exam on May 3, and for lakhs of students across the country, this is a big day. With so much at stake, the NTA has shared important updates around exam day rules, security measures, biometric checks, and dress code to help everything run smoothly.
To ensure fairness, the exam will be conducted under strict monitoring, including AI-based surveillance and CCTV cameras. The NTA has also made it clear that rumours about paper leaks are completely false, so students should avoid panic and trust only official updates.
What You Must Carry on Exam Day
Before heading to the exam centre, make sure you have all the required documents ready. You must carry your NEET admit card along with the self-declaration (undertaking) form. This form needs to be properly filled, with your photographs pasted, thumb impression, and signature.
It’s also important to carry a valid Aadhaar card for identity verification. Entry to the exam centre will begin at 11:00 AM, and gates will close at 1:30 PM, so reaching early is very important to avoid last-minute stress.
Biometric Verification – Don’t Worry
At the centre, candidates will go through biometric verification after frisking. However, if for some reason your biometric doesn’t work—like due to technical issues, poor fingerprint quality, or connectivity problems—you will still be allowed to take the exam. You’ll just need to fill an undertaking form at the centre, so there’s no need to panic in such situations.
Exam Pattern and Timing
The exam will have 180 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, carrying a total of 720 marks. You’ll get +4 marks for every correct answer and -1 for every wrong one. The exam will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Dress Code – Keep It Simple
The dress code is simple and meant to avoid any issues during checking:
- Male candidates should wear light clothes, avoid full sleeves, and choose slippers or sandals.
- Female candidates should wear half-sleeve outfits, avoid heavy designs, jewellery, and closed shoes.
Avoid carrying items like mobile phones, calculators, or any electronic gadgets, as they are strictly not allowed.
Final Tip
With the exam just around the corner, focus on revision and staying calm. If possible, visit your exam centre a day before so you know the location and travel time.
NEET UG is a crucial step toward a medical career, and being prepared—not just academically but also logistically—can make a big difference on exam day.
