Detailed guidelines regarding the dress code and permissible items have been issued by the National Testing Agency for candidates appearing in the NEET UG 2026, scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026. These rules are in place to ensure there is no obstruction or disruption during the exam and to maintain the highest level of security at all examination centers. Candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with these guidelines before the exam day. They contain important information about the type of clothing, footwear, accessories, and items that can be brought into the examination hall.

According to these guidelines, candidates are recommended to wear light and simple clothing for the examination. Candidates wearing full-sleeved clothes or even woolen clothing are allowed, but they will need to arrive at the exam center early to allow for a complete frisking process. A clear water bottle is permitted inside the examination hall. Additionally, items for religious purposes are allowed, provided they meet certain conditions.

Dress Code

According to the guidelines given by the National Testing Agency for NEET UG 2026, candidates are advised to follow some simple and easy-to-wear dress codes to make sure they can enter the exam room without any issues.

  • Shoes: Candidates must wear slippers or sandals.
  • They should not wear closed shoes, high heels, or footwear with thick soles.
  • Dress Code: It is better to wear light dresses
  • Candidates should avoid wearing dresses with heavy embroidery or metal buttons.

Candidates should focus on comfort and convenience while appearing for the exam. 

Items and Accessories Forbidden

As per the guidelines set by the National Testing Agency for the NEET UG 2026 Examination, candidates are not allowed to bring any unnecessary items to the test center.

  • Candidates must not wear watches, wristbands, bracelets, bangles, or any kind of jewelry.
  • It is not allowed to carry electronic gadgets such as smartwatches, fitness bands, or any other similar devices.
  • Wearing metal accessories like hair clips, belts with large buckles, or anything similar is also prohibited.

These rules are in place to ensure fairness, integrity, and security during the exam. 

Religious Dress and Additional Points to Note

According to the rules set by the National Testing Agency for NEET UG 2026, students are allowed to enter the exam center if they are dressed in religious clothing such as hijabs, turbans, or other religious attire. However, they should reach the exam center early to allow enough time for complete security checks and verification. This ensures that both respect for religious beliefs and security measures are properly followed. 

Tips for Preparing and on Exam Day

To ensure a smooth experience during the NEET UG 2026, here are some helpful suggestions:

  • Reach the exam venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled reporting time to allow enough time for registration and other formalities.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy breathing to help you stay focused throughout the three-hour exam.
  • Carry all necessary documents such as your admit card and proof of identity.
  • Cooperate fully with the exam authorities during the frisking and verification procedures.

Being well-prepared and disciplined on the exam day can significantly improve your performance.
