The NEET UG 2025 Round 1 choice-filling deadline has been extended to August 11. Learn about the revised counselling schedule, postponed allotment result, and what aspirants need to do.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a significant update for NEET UG 2025 aspirants, extending the deadline for Round 1 choice-filling and choice-locking. Candidates now have until 11:59 PM tomorrow, August 11, 2025, to submit and finalize their preferences for MBBS and BDS colleges across India.

This is the latest in a series of revisions to the counselling schedule, which were made following requests from candidates who faced technical glitches and delays in obtaining required documents, such as disability certificates. The extension provides a crucial last opportunity for candidates to make well-thought-out decisions about their college and course choices.

An extension of the choice-filling window directly impacts the subsequent stages of the counselling process. The Round 1 seat allotment result, which was initially expected today, has now been postponed to August 11, 2025.

What This Means for Aspirants

Candidates who have already completed their choice-filling and locking do not need to take any further action. However, those who have not yet submitted their choices or wish to modify them must do so by the new deadline. Aspirants are strongly advised to use this extended time to carefully review their choices, ensuring they have listed their preferred colleges and branches in the correct order of priority.

Steps to Fill and Lock Choices:

  1. Log in to the MCC website: Visit the official portal mcc.nic.in and log in to the UG Medical Counselling section using your NEET UG 2025 roll number and password.
  2. Access the Choice Filling: Click on the "Choice Filling" link on your dashboard.
  3. Add and Arrange Choices: Select your preferred colleges and courses from the available list. Use the "Move Up/Move Down" buttons to arrange your choices in order of preference.
  4. Lock Your Choices: After reviewing your list multiple times, click on the "Lock Choices" button. This is an irreversible step, so double-checking is essential. The system will send an OTP to your registered mobile number for final confirmation. If you do not lock your choices, the last saved preferences will be automatically locked by the system after the deadline.
  5. Print the Confirmation Page: Download and print a copy of your locked choices for future reference.

The Revised Counselling Timeline

With the choice-filling deadline extended, candidates should be aware of the updated schedule for the rest of Round 1:

EventDates
Choice-Filling & LockingUntil August 11, 2025 (11:59 PM)
Seat ProcessingAugust 12 to August 13, 2025
Round 1 Allotment ResultAugust 14, 2025
Reporting to Allotted CollegesAugust 15 to August 20, 2025

Candidates must strictly adhere to this revised schedule to avoid any complications. The official notice from the MCC is the most reliable source of information. The prompt release of the allotment result is critical to prevent a cascading effect of delays on subsequent counselling rounds, including the state-level counselling processes.
