The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a significant extension, offering crucial relief to medical aspirants by extending the deadline for the resignation/surrender of seats allotted in Round 1 and Round 2 of the NEET UG 2025 counselling.

This extension provides candidates with a final opportunity to withdraw from their allotted MBBS/BDS seats and ensure their eligibility to participate in the upcoming Round 3 (Mop-up Round) of the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling.

The final date and time to resign from an allotted seat has been extended to October 1, 2025, until 5:00 PM (IST).

Key Information for Aspirants:

  • Avoiding Forfeiture: The primary reason for this extension is to allow candidates to resign from their seats without forfeiting their security deposit, provided they follow the official procedure by the stipulated time.
  • Resignation Process: Candidates must complete the resignation process through the online portal. For those who joined their allotted institute in Round 2, it is mandatory to obtain a system-generated resignation letter from the college before the deadline. Any offline resignation will be considered null and void.
  • Round 3 Eligibility: This window is particularly important for students who want to be eligible for fresh registration and choice filling in Round 3. Any candidate who fails to resign from their Round 2 seat by the deadline will be considered locked into that seat and ineligible for any further rounds of counselling.

Medical aspirants are strongly advised to act promptly and complete their withdrawal formalities by the deadline of October 1, 2025, to avoid any complications with their admission process.
