NEET PG 2025 Update: The Supreme Court has asked the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to submit a detailed response within 2 weeks regarding transparency concerns in the exam paper and answer key. Due to this, MCC’s counselling for 50% AIQ seats has faced a further delay. Aspirants are advised to stay updated on MCC’s official website for counselling schedules and next steps.

NEET PG 2025 LIVE: Supreme Court Asks NBEMS for 2-Week Response; MCC AIQ Counselling Delayed Further

The Supreme Court of India has directed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to submit a detailed response within two weeks regarding transparency concerns in the NEET PG 2025 examination. This has resulted in a further delay in the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, directly impacting nearly 2 lakh postgraduate medical aspirants across India.

Why the Supreme Court Stepped In

NEET PG is the gateway to postgraduate medical courses such as MD, MS, and PG Diploma programmes . Conducted by NBEMS, the exam determines admission to 50% AIQ seats as well as state quota seats in medical colleges nationwide. In 2025, multiple petitions alleged a NEET PG 2025 exam paper issue, answer key accuracy concerns and lack of clarity in the grievance redressal system. The Supreme Court emphasized that transparency in such high-stakes exams is critical and has sought a comprehensive affidavit from NBEMS. The next hearing is expected in about two weeks, when the Court will review NBEMS’s response.

Impact on MCC Counselling

Following the Court’s directive, MCC has paused the 50% AIQ counselling process until further notice. The schedule for choice filling, NEET PG 2025 seat allotment, and reporting has been pushed back , creating fresh uncertainty for candidates. This delay not only disrupts academic timelines but also pushes back crucial milestones for young doctors preparing to begin their specialization.

What NBEMS Needs to Clarify

  • In its affidavit, NBEMS is expected to address:
  • How the exam question paper was designed and secured.
  • The process used to finalize the answer key, addressing specific NEET PG 2025 answer key concerns raised by candidates
  • Mechanisms for candidate objections and grievance redressal.
  • Measures ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the exam process.

What Aspirants Should Do

While awaiting the Supreme Court’s review, candidates are advised to:

  • Monitor official updates on MCC’s counselling portal.
  • Keep documents ready: NEET PG scorecard, MBBS degree, internship certificate, category certificates (if applicable), and photographs.
  • Be financially prepared for admission fees once counselling resumes.
  • Rely only on official notices from NBEMS and MCC to avoid misinformation.

Conclusion

The Supreme Court’s directive in the NEET PG 2025 case underscores the importance of fairness and transparency in national-level medical entrance exams. While nearly 2 lakh aspirants now face added delays in MCC’s counselling process, the Court’s intervention may ultimately lead to a more accountable and trustworthy system. The next hearing in about two weeks will provide the latest NEET PG 2025 Supreme Court update on counselling and admissions.
