In a major development offering relief and new opportunities to thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has set crucial deadlines for the NEET PG 2025 counselling, while the National Medical Commission (NMC) has confirmed a substantial increase in the total available seats. This news is a significant update for students aiming for MD, MS, and DNB courses for the 2025-26 academic year.

Crucial Deadlines for Counselling Registration

The MCC has provided a vital window for candidates who need to make corrections or changes to their initial registration details for Round 1. The Reset Registration option has been activated and will close on November 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM. This flexibility is essential for aspirants to ensure their data is accurate before the seat allotment process begins.

A highly critical deadline has been announced for candidates seeking admission under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Quota. Aspirants must submit all their mandatory NRI status documents via email to the MCC by 12:00 Noon on October 28, 2025. This tight deadline means candidates have only today and a few hours tomorrow morning to complete this process. Failure to submit the required documentation within this timeframe will result in the candidate being considered under the general category, regardless of their initial registration for the NRI quota.

Massive Boost in PG Medical Seats

In a move set to ease the competition, the NMC has confirmed the addition of 2,337 new Postgraduate (PG) medical seats for the current admission session. This significant expansion is over and above the existing 49,907 seats, bringing the total number of available MD, MS, and DNB seats across the country to a remarkable 52,244.

This increase is a direct result of the government's push to expand medical education and improve the doctor-to-patient ratio in India. More PG seats translate directly into more opportunities for aspirants who have qualified for the NEET PG 2025 examination. The greater seat availability is expected to reduce the cutoff for various courses and open doors to specialisations that were previously out of reach for many candidates.

Aspirants are advised to meticulously review the updated seat matrix, which will soon be released on the MCC website, to strategically fill and lock their choices. With the registration process currently underway and key deadlines set, candidates must remain vigilant to ensure they do not miss any part of the counselling schedule.
