Candidates can select and lock their preferred colleges until 10 am on September 21, 2026, at mcc.nic.in. Round 2 registration — for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in state universities and 100% seats in deemed/central universities — remains open separately till September 19, 2026 (3 pm).

Alongside opening the window, MCC has added 53 new MDS seats for Round 2 and released fresh vacancy numbers: 762 virtual vacancies and 460 clear vacancies. Combined with the new seats, that puts 1,275 seats in play for Round 2 admissions (53 new + 762 virtual + 460 clear).

How to Complete NEET MDS Round 2 Choice Filling and Locking

1. Go to the official counselling portal, mcc.nic.in.
2. Click the NEET MDS link on the notification bar.
3. Open the Candidate Login page and sign in with your roll number and password.
4. Select Choice Filling and Locking from the dashboard.
5. Add colleges/courses in your order of preference using the "+" button next to each option.
6. Review the preference list, then click Save & Continue to lock it.

53 New Seats Added: Vacancy Break-Up for Round 2

MCC's Round 2 update includes three distinct categories of available seats:

• 53 newly added MDS seats
• 762 virtual vacancies
• 460 clear vacancies

In NEET counselling terminology, a clear vacancy generally refers to a seat that went completely unfilled in the previous round, while a virtual vacancy refers to a seat expected to open up as an already-allotted candidate moves to a higher-preference option in a later round. NEET MDS 2026 Eligibility and Cutoff Scores

To register for counselling, candidates must have qualified NEET MDS with the minimum required percentile — 50th percentile for General category, and 40th percentile for SC/ST candidates.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the NEET MDS 2026 result, along with these cutoffs, on June 2, 2026.

Seat Upgrade Rules: Round 1 to Round 2

Candidates who want to move from a Round 1 allotted seat to a different one in Round 2 must first report to their Round 1 institute. MCC states: candidates upgrading from Round 1 to Round 2 have to report at the allotted institute with their original Round 1 documents, complete admission formalities there, and formally record their willingness to upgrade with the college during that process.

NEET MDS counselling runs across five rounds in total — four conducted directly by MCC, plus one additional round announced later depending on remaining vacancies. Beyond registration and choice filling, the process includes seat processing, the allotment result, and document verification at the allotted institute.
