The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2026 examination on May 3, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Now that the exam is behind them, students across the country are eagerly looking for answer keys to estimate their scores. Leading coaching institutes — Allen, Aakash, Motion, Sri Chaitanya, and Infinity — have already begun releasing unofficial answer keys and solutions PDFs for all four paper codes: 11, 12, 13, and 14.
These answer keys are a crucial first step for students who want to calculate their expected scores, shortlist colleges, and mentally prepare for what comes next — well before the official NTA result drops. The official NTA answer key is expected to be released within 10 to 15 days of the exam at neet.nta.nic.in.
How Did the Paper Go? Section-wise Analysis
Students stepping out of exam halls described NEET 2026 as moderate in difficulty, though many agreed it was lengthy and time-consuming. Even well-prepared candidates had to keep a close eye on the clock throughout the three-hour session.
Physics was rated moderate, with questions covering Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, Kinematics, Electrostatics, Wave Optics, Rotation, and Electromagnetism — topics that demand both conceptual understanding and calculation speed. Chemistry sat at easy to moderate — Physical Chemistry was direct and scoring, but Organic Chemistry threw in a few curveballs that required sharper analytical thinking. Biology, as expected, turned out to be the most comfortable section for most aspirants, with questions from Human Physiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Animal Husbandry, Human Reproduction, Biomolecules, and Plant Physiology. Students with solid NCERT preparation would have found Biology highly rewarding.
NEET 2026 Exam Pattern at a Glance
The paper followed the standard NTA format — 180 multiple-choice questions for a total of 720 marks. Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology each carried 45 questions worth 180 marks. Every correct answer fetches +4 marks, while an incorrect response carries a penalty of 1 mark. Leaving a question unattempted carries no penalty.
Expected Cutoff 2026 — Category-wise
Given the moderate difficulty level and the massive number of students who appeared this year, experts expect the NEET 2026 cutoff to be marginally higher than last year. Expected cutoff scores are — General/EWS: 700–141, OBC/SC/ST: 150–126, UR/EWS-PwD: 150–116, and OBC/SC/ST-PwD: 130–121. For those aiming at government MBBS colleges, a score of 650 and above is considered a safe benchmark for General category candidates.
The qualifying percentile stays the same — 50th percentile for General and EWS, 40th for SC, ST, and OBC, 45th for PwD under General/EWS, and 40th for PwD under SC/ST/OBC.
When Will the NEET 2026 Result Be Out?
NTA has not officially announced a result date yet. However, based on past trends, the NEET 2026 result is expected around June 15, 2026. Before that, NTA will release the provisional answer key and open an objection window for candidates to raise concerns. Students are advised to keep checking neet.nta.nic.in regularly for official updates.
