The NEET 2025 counselling schedule faces further delays as the Round 2 process is postponed. The resignation window for Round 1 has been extended, while a new scholarship offers financial aid to deserving students.

The uncertainty surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 counselling process has deepened for medical aspirants as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced yet another delay. Initially set to commence on August 29, 2025, the second round of NEET UG counselling has been postponed until further notice. This latest development comes on the heels of repeated extensions in the first round of counselling, leaving students anxious about the compressed academic calendar.

In a related move aimed at accommodating students, the MCC has reopened and extended the Round 1 seat resignation window. Candidates who had been allotted a seat in the first round but wish to resign without forfeiting their security deposit can now do so until 5:00 P.M. on September 3, 2025. This extension provides a critical opportunity for students who may have been waiting for new seat additions or those who wish to participate in the upcoming state-level counselling rounds. The resignation process, however, requires candidates to physically report to the allotted college to complete the necessary formalities.

The primary reason for the delay in the Round 2 schedule is the ongoing process of adding newly approved MBBS seats to the counselling matrix. The National Medical Commission (NMC) is still reviewing and approving proposals for new seats across various medical colleges. The MCC has indicated that the second round will not begin until the final, updated seat matrix is officially released. Aspiring doctors and their parents must stay updated on official announcements from the MCC and state counselling bodies to avoid missing any new deadlines. The PwD portal for Round 2 is currently active until September 9, 2025, with new Disability Centres added to facilitate the certificate generation process, which suggests that the counselling might begin shortly after this date.

Amidst these delays, a positive development has emerged for financially disadvantaged students. The Max Healthcare Foundation has announced its Medical Scholarship Programme for the 2025-26 academic year. This initiative will fully fund the education of 100 meritorious MBBS students from economically weaker sections. The scholarship is a boon for aspirants who have successfully cleared the NEET UG 2025 and secured admission to government medical colleges in specific cities. The scholarship covers not only tuition fees but also includes a laptop, textbooks, medical tools, a monthly allowance, and a mentorship program to support the students throughout their academic journey. The application deadline for this valuable scholarship is September 20, 2025.

As the admission season stretches on, aspirants are advised to use this time wisely. Prepare all required documents, including your NEET scorecard, domicile certificates, and academic records. This proactive approach will ensure a smooth process once the counselling dates are finally announced. For regular updates on NEET counselling and medical education news, follow Only Education News.
