The final phase of the Madhya Pradesh NEET UG 2025 Counselling is set to conclude tonight, as the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), MP, closes the portal for choice filling and locking for the State Mop-Up Round. This critical deadline marks the last opportunity for eligible medical stream aspirants to submit and lock their preferences for the remaining MBBS and BDS seats across the state's government and private institutions. Candidates must ensure their choices are submitted before the 11:59 PM deadline today, October 16, 2025, as the DME will proceed immediately with the seat allotment process based on the locked selections.

The Final Window for Allotment

The Mop-Up Round is the last major opportunity for thousands of students who either did not secure a seat in the previous rounds or are newly eligible after the state’s revised schedule. It is mandatory for all participating candidates in this round, including those who registered earlier but wish to be considered for a seat, to perform a fresh choice filling and choice locking exercise. Failure to lock choices before the midnight cutoff will result in the candidate not being considered for the Mop-Up Round seat allotment.

The preceding days saw the completion of initial formalities. The window for fresh registrations by newly eligible candidates, as well as the crucial online resignation window for candidates admitted in the First and Second rounds, closed on October 13, 2025. Following this, the DME published the Revised State Merit List of registered candidates and the final list of vacant seats on October 14, setting the stage for the current choice filling activity.

Key Dates Following Today's Deadline

With the closing of the choice filling process, the DME moves swiftly toward finalising the admissions. Medical aspirants must keep the following dates marked for the subsequent stages of the Mop-Up Round:

  • MOP-UP Round Allotment Result: The much-anticipated results for the Mop-Up Round seats will be declared on October 18, 2025. Candidates should be prepared to check the official DME website immediately upon notification.
  • Reporting and Admission: Candidates who are successfully allotted a seat must report to their respective Medical or Dental college in person for document verification and admission. This reporting period is scheduled from October 22, 2025, to October 27, 2025 (up to 6:00 PM). Prompt reporting is essential, as missing this window will lead to the forfeiture of the allotted seat.

Important Warning on Resignation Penalty

Aspirants who were admitted in the First or Second round of state counselling and chose to resign their seat during the specified window (which closed on October 13) should be aware of the severe financial implications. As per the rules, a significant penalty of Rs. 2 Lakhs is applicable for candidates who resigned from their admitted seats. Furthermore, the official notification strictly stated that no requests for the extension of the resignation time would be entertained, emphasizing the seriousness of the counselling commitments.

All medical aspirants are urged to double-check their choice list, ensuring the correct preferences are locked before the midnight deadline. For regular updates and detailed counselling notices, follow Only Education News, and for more information on entrance exams, visit Medical Course List.
