The State Common Entrance Test Cell Maharashtra (CET Cell) has set today as the last day for completing all necessary actions. The MHT MTech CET 2026 CAP Round 1 seat acceptance deadline is today. The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) is used for admissions to M.E. and M.Tech. programs. It applies to both government and private institutions in Maharashtra. About the MHT MTech CET 2026 Admission Process

The MHT MTech CET is a state-level exam for postgraduate engineering courses. It is conducted by the CET Cell every year. The 2026 exam has opened admissions for M.E. and M.Tech. seats across Maharashtra. Admissions happen through the CAP portal after registration and checking documents. Candidates fill in their preferences online based on eligible colleges and branches. The CET Cell then allocates seats based on merit and category rules. The admission process goes through several rounds to fill all available seats. Round 1 is the first and usually the most competitive. Subsequent rounds start only if there are still seats left after each round.

Seat Acceptance Options

When accepting a seat online, candidates have to choose one of three freeze options. Each option affects their eligibility for future CAP rounds and cannot be changed once selected.

• Auto-Freeze: The seat is locked automatically once it matches the first preference. The candidate cannot take part in any further CAP rounds.
• Self-Freeze: The candidate chooses to lock the current seat even if it is not their first preference. They are not eligible for later rounds.

Not Freeze (Betterment): The current seat is temporarily kept. The candidate can still look for a better seat in later rounds. The CET Cell has asked candidates to choose this option carefully. Once submitted on the portal, it cannot be changed.

How to Accept the Allotted Seat Online

1. Visit me2026.mahacet.org and open the CAP Round 1 login page.
2. Enter your application number and password to check the allotment status.
3. Check the personal details, allotted institute, branch, and quota on the screen.
4. Choose your freeze option: Auto-Freeze, Self-Freeze, or Not Freeze.
5. Pay the seat acceptance fee online through the payment gateway.
6. Download the acceptance receipt to use when reporting to the institute.

How to Pay Fees and Handle Grievances

Seat acceptance fees can only be paid through the online payment gateway. Candidates can use net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. Offline payment methods are not accepted for this transaction. If there is an error in the allotment or personal records, candidates can report it online. The grievance link is accessible from the same login page. The CET Cell will respond via the registered email and mobile number.

Documents Required for Institute Reporting

Candidates must bring all original documents and one set of photocopies. The institute will verify these documents before confirming admission on the CAP portal.

Required documents include:

• The seat allotment letter and online acceptance receipt
• The MHT MTech CET 2026 scorecard and admit card
• Qualifying degree marksheets and provisional or degree certificate
• Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets with school leaving certificate
• Category, non-creamy layer, and domicile certificates (if applicable)
• An Aadhaar card
• Recent passport-sized photographs

What Happens at the Institute Reporting Desk

The institute will check all original documents against the online records. Officials will verify identity, category status, and details of the qualifying degree. Any mismatches may result in the seat being canceled on the portal. If the verification is successful, the institute will confirm the admission in the CAP system. The candidate will then receive a printed confirmation slip.
